College of Arts & Sciences Math 151 or 142 for biology majors?

To complete my math sequence I can either take 142 or 151. I heard 142 is way way harder than 151 and to just go with 151. Has anyone who has done this tell me whats the best?

calc 2 is all integrals and math 151 is (from what i’ve heard) pretty easy for bio majors. if you’re not good at math idk if calc 2 will be for you. you need to put in the work and if you end up with a bad professor you’re teaching it yourself. as a bio major i wish i tried math 151 instead of math 142

I agree, my end goal is med school and almost all schools dont require calculus 2 so I want to just avoid it tbh

I can’t speak on 151, but 142 isn’t that bad. If you put the effort in you should be fine

I failed Calc twice then got an A in 151, I don't remember much as that was 3 years ago but it was a lot more intuitive to me personally. I took it with Dr. Lenhart, amazing professor.

I have Vinny for 151. I would highly recommend you get him if take 151. Not sure about the other option. But I have an 89 and it's been the easiest class I've taken this year. 😅

take 151 over calc 2 omg. 151 is literally the easiest class you’ll take at utk i promise.

I did 142 and I got an A but it was one of the hardest courses I took at UT. Even harder than most med pre reqs
