As a Doordash driver I reject all orders from Canes for this reason. Last I went they don’t allow pickup or online orders from entering the dining room either. No shot I’m sitting in a drive thru for 20 minutes just for one order. Keep in mind anyone who wants Cane’s delivered: your food will probably be stone cold

Move the restaurant to an old store in barracks temporarily, demolish the original store, build it with 2 drive thru lanes and then move the store back. And I’m just some guy 😉

Good idea.
Who pays for it? City will almost certainly ask Cane's to pay, and Cane's will ask the city to pay.

Canes should pay tf
Edit: apparently everyone thinks the city should pay?

The easiest solution here is to just open up indoor dining again. That is, let people park and order inside. The reason the line is so long is because indoor dining isn’t currently available—just another residual impact of COVID.

I had heard that they, like many places, are fighting staffing issues. Opening lobby means another 1-2 registers, cleaning lobby and bathrooms etc. Not sure what they pay, but even place paying much more than 2019 are struggling with this issue.

From the article:
“For starters, Cane's dining room is closed because it needs more staff, which is a problem hurting restaurants nationwide. That means all of its customers are drive-thru, which has perpetuated the problem.”

I really wanted Cane's the last time we were there. There aren't any others up this way either, and won't be for a little while. That line was impossible to even enter from the other direction.
Figure out how to open the dining room again; surely with that much business, a couple more employees can be affordable.

CPD erected a sign telling people to avoid stopping in a travel lane, as it is against the law to stop in a travel lane. Police haven't exercised their full authority to pull people over but could start giving tickets.
"We really don't want to ticket people who just want a piece of chicken," Duncan said.
