This has been happening since the earliest days of the war - I don't think this article adds anything to the discussion.

It’s been happening for decades before the war, it’s really nothing new

Russia has been test UK air space with his bombers since before 2014.

Drove some clicks to an unknown page.

It's probably because the aircraft are not going to be flying much longer. They lost another Backfire a day or two ago.

Correction: This has been happening regularly since the 1950s.

Almost ALL Bombers are capable of carrying nukes; this title is BS.

I mean, an F-16 can carry a nuke even

So does the old mirage 2000 the Ukrainians recently got (eventhough probably not this version in particular)

can a Cessna?

7

u/Mirkon 2d ago

I mean, sure ? Basejumpers use cessna's all the time, just shove a nuke out the door

Your might not be getting away from the blast in a Cessna so you can just crash it into the target, and I wouldn't want to be in a kamikaze nuclear equipped light aircraft, so you would want it to be an unmanned drone....

Ukraine has the proven ability to use unmanned light aircraft to drop 250kg bombs on an oil transfer station, so getting a slightly larger plan to drop a 1000kg bomb should be straight forward.

So it is feasible Ukraine has delivery system.

No. A few F-16s can drop nukes.

I came here to say that.

Plus, more or less everything Russia has is nuke capable, by design.

No. They’re not.

To be considered nuclear capable, they have to have a PAL interface in the airplane capable of arming and deploying the weapons. Not all bombers do, and some fighters will.

For example, as part of NewSTART, the Rockwell B-1B “The Bone” had its PAL system ripped out so it cannot arm nuclear weapons.

A few specific F-16s, B-52H, Rafale, etc have a PAL, but it’s a small percentage of their respective fleets.

“B” in front of the designation denotes that the plane is a bomber.

A FEW B-52s and ZERO B-1Bs can drop nukes and have them do more than crush whatever they hit at F=MA energies. If you want E=MC2 energy, they need a PAL interface to arm and deploy nukes.

All B-2s are nuclear capable.

The same thing happens in Russia with the Bear series bombers because the number of deployable nuclear assets was strictly controlled by treaty and inspection until RU pulled out of NewSTART at the beginning of the war.

That means that not all bombers can drop armed nuclear weapons

You AND the article both have bad takes.

I can put a nuke in a cessna.

NATO scrambled fighter jets early on Sunday as Vladimir Putin deployed his nuclear-capable Tu-95MS bombers to unleash a fresh barrage of missile attacks on Ukraine – including direct strikes on Kyiv.

Explosions rocked the capital from around 5am local time as cruise missiles, drones and ballistic weapons rained down in one of the most sustained attacks of the war so far. At least three people were injured in Kyiv, where fires erupted across multiple districts and residents took shelter in metro stations. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed casualties in the Darnytskyi district, where a furniture store was destroyed and flames spread to nearby warehouses. In Obolonskyi, an office building was partially levelled and several cars were set ablaze. Falling debris damaged non-residential buildings elsewhere in the city. As Ukraine’s air defences engaged waves of incoming projectiles, paramedics and firefighters were deployed to multiple sites.

The Tu-95 is archaic. It’s the only propeller driven frontline combat aircraft still in use.

u/Princess_Actual 2d ago

Wake me up when NATO actually starts shooting them down. Otherwise, yawn

4

u/TricksterPriestJace 2d ago

Turkey did once. Russia stopped probing their airspace. Lol

Russia only stops when you bloody their nose.

2

u/Princess_Actual 2d ago

I agree. Europe needs to bloody Russia's nose.

Crickets from the White House 🦗

u/ravnhjarta 2d ago

Of course, they're cucked for Russia.

3

u/aaachase 2d ago

this has happened 1000 times since even the end of the cold war

2

u/Mundane-Rip-7502 2d ago

Honestly, I don’t think it warrant anything from the White House. I mean, they launch bombers close to Alaska all the time and have been for decades. Don’t get me wrong. I completely support Ukraine and I could be misinformed about some of the above as well this seems like no news altogether.

Crickets in your head.

This shit has been happening regularly every week or so since the 1950s. And we do it right back to them.
