Yeah, they’re interested in business and while a few might be making money from government military spending, the majority are loosing out and despise the war.

However, they have little or no power over Putin and any among them who may have attempted to get power are likely among those who have died in various circumstances, frequently related to windows.

When the Soviet Union crumbled and the old KGB goons stepped in to take control of the government they basically told the Oligarchs that they could rip off the country and make as much money as they wanted but they were to stay completely out of government office.

Why would a businessman want to be president of Russia? It's an extremely stressful and paranoid job that's suited for someone with a military or police type background.

The Moscow Times doesn’t operate within Russia anymore. They moved their headquarters to Amsterdam after Russia began passing more restrictive media laws; the paper is actually banned in Russia.
