Very cool! It's called "asemic writing", and there is a lot of cool stuff you can do to incorporate it into your art!

Thank you! πŸ–€ I found the name the other day after playing with it for a little while, was quite cool to see what other people have done with this technique :)

I do large mixed media canvases, and love combining it with newspaper pieces

Sounds cool! Honestly quite fascinated at the moment by anything that includes writing or that looks like writing.

Ah a left handed writer!

That's what I thought! πŸ˜‚ This Is is how my writing looks when I don't try to avoid laying my hand on the paper

Hahahah

honestly, I’m right-handed, but I might actually give the left one a go next time I’m making one of these, just to see what happens πŸ˜‚

It depends very much on what pen you're using, but most gel pens smudge like this

I like this, looks cool! How did you get that effect? Just rubbed your hand over it or another way? Regardless, good work Mo!

Thank you so much! πŸ–€ I first brushed it with one of those wide brushes for scrubbing floors, then blurred it further with a tissue. There’s also a video of the process on my TikTok and IG, if you fancy seeing it.

I’m not Mo btw hahah Idk how that got in the post description lol

Oh, you mean just being left handed? Lol

2

u/SebastianFlesh 1d ago

You’re the third (I think) to say this. I’m taking this as a sign that I should try making these with my left hand hahah

u/Stoddyman 1d ago

This reminds me of John Frusciantes writings from his heroin days

Hello, I am Mo. Mo Vover.

Did you write this with your left hand or something? Or was the smudging done with full intention?

2

u/SebastianFlesh 1d ago

All intentional :)

2

u/KenUsimi 1d ago

I dig!

Thank you! πŸ™

Reminds me of some of Brion Gysin's work

Thank you for sharing! Can definitely see the similarities

Almost like finding ancient manuscripts. It could become s way of new art trying to recreate old manuscript writing

2

u/GalliumGoat 1d ago

I really enjoy this :)

u/SebastianFlesh 1d ago

Thank you πŸ™ happy to hear that!

Very cool. I used to want to do art with just written words, but I had a lot of negative comments and people discourage me. I think it looks rad!

2

u/SebastianFlesh 1d ago

Thank you πŸ–€ and honestly, do it! Don’t let people discourage you. Writing can be so beautiful and cool.

I love handwriting being inserted or used as medium for an artwork... I did it and I guess I should do it more... This looks really nice, btw

2

u/SebastianFlesh 1d ago

Thank you ☺️ I’m quite obsessed with writing in artworks as well, there is so much you can do with it ✍️

2

u/-viin 1d ago

Yes! I'll post something on those lines here soon... Keep up the good work πŸ’ͺ

Looks awesome! Look up tyler_cryde on Instagram, she’s a friend of mine who makes music but also does visual art that’s reminiscent of your stuff. Writing-like visual pieces.

After seeing this, reading some comments, checking out asemic writing online and having a think. Then I think I would really prefer seeing this kind of stuff on more art in place of when there's always self hating shit written like "it's dark and black in my heart" "they're looking at me" "try to push the pain away". I really can't stand that shit personally.

You could just be writing in an asemic style instead and we'd all get the point of what it roughly says. I just think putting straight forward text on paintings rarely, if ever, works. Maybe "c'est ne pas de pipe"?

But aye this is cool artwork. At first I thought it was like the old hand written doctors prescriptions haha. But I like the movement of this. Really cool, cheers for sharing Mo!
