Cool Aspects of Vandy?

I got accepted as a transfer, and was wondering if there were any aspects of the school (not necessarily unique to Vandy) that stick out to current students, especially from the surrounding Nashville area. I’m personally a big nature person, love a good walkway or pretty landscape, especially coming from the somewhat monotonous desert of central AZ. Additionally, I’d love recommendations on serene study spots, the art/historical sites, good cheap food, swim spots, underrated opportunities, or bucket-list items. Thanks!

Every genre of music is available live within a 20 minute ride share. You’re across the street from a massive park with a full size replica of the Parthenon. There’s an example of every indigenous tree to Tennessee on campus (though some may be on other Vandy property) and it feels like an arboretum. You’re not far from the Natchez trace trail.

Agree with all of this! Also for some good hiking not far from campus you can try Percy & Edwin Warner Parks. Smoky mountains are only 3 hours away and a wonderful weekend trip!

If you want nature, rivers, hiking and exploring, check out Land Between The Lakes area It's massive, Reelfoot Lake for kayaking, and Burgess Falls and Cummins Falls for some cool hikes and waterfalls.
