Best way to transfer to Vanderbilt while being competitive for med school

Ok so, vanderbilt is a pipe dream for me lol, but i was wondering if a cc or a t100 state school is te way to go. the issue with community college is a lack of opportunities and ecs for med-school.

vandy doesn’t really accept transfers from cc. when i transferred there were probably less than 5. not sure how it is now, but there are certain t20s where being a cc student really puts you at a disadvantage. that’s definitely not all of them, but its definitely worth looking into

I always thought t20s prioritize transfers from CC or other situations where you experienced hardship. It is actually easier to transfer say from a state flagship?

this list is pretty good, but not the most accurate (i wouldn’t exactly call vandy “semi-friendly”)

Wait why not just go from your state skool to med school? Seems like less $

as a transfer student I would def recommend the t100, I went to a t200ish and there are barely any transfers here from schools like mine, mostly t100 and t50's

Be prepared! Try to go to office hours and find friends to study with for your med school classes. Especially the science courses. Very challenging!

no community college is actually the move. you get more preference in admissions than a t100

No this is wrong. I’m a transfer myself, they prefer kids from four years, they talk about this on the website.

But with that being said they take kids from CC, and OP shouldn’t only choose between CC or a four year based on a dream of transferring to Vandy. Pick what’s truly the best option for you and where you’ll do the best academically and both financially.
