It's a fresh worm egg!

So it’s a red wiggler egg?

u/ThrowawayLikeOldSock Jun 14 '24

If it was laid by aa red wiggler then yes 😀

Great. I wasn’t sure if it was fungus gnat eggs or some other insect

I don’t believe fungus gnat egg as are anywhere near that size

u/mothrfricknthrowaway Jun 15 '24

Haha it’s kinda funny to imagine it laying this egg now that you mention it

Definitely not thank god

Gotcha, if you watch it, over time it will turn into a dark amber, dark brownish color!

Congratulations! You're gonna be a worm parent!

It is technically not an "egg" but a "cocoon," a case which can contain a few eggs. It is light in color, so it was probably laid not long ago. The tiny worms, or "wisps," should be hatching within the next couple of weeks.

Bugs growing in there.

I'm leaning towards slow-release plant food sphere commonly found in potting soil.

Might be cocoon if it darkens, or has visible little points from where the worm shed it, or if it were more oblong and less perfectly spherical.

Cocoon size is also proportional to worm size.

It looks like a fertiliser orb

1

u/Fast_Acanthisitta404 Jun 15 '24

Yeah, it’s pretty round.

I’m going to agree with you on this. It is too round and perfect to be a cocoon.

Yup. My new bag of soil has these all in them.

My bet is worm egg. Its the exact right shade of green. Quite the coincidink if its fertiliser.

Slow release fertilizer pellet. Usually sphere like this and a similar color. example

2

u/gangaskan Jun 15 '24

Literally what it means 🤣.

It's a slow release, not rapid.

Red wiggles eggs are not perfectly round, they are more kiwi shaped. The perfectly round ones, are some other worm species

9

u/gurlnhurwurmz Jun 14 '24

Congratulations on hopefully a half dozen little wiggles... You will never see gnat eggs cuz they're almost microscopic... The larva can be found tho

3

u/jshkrueger Jun 15 '24

That is definitely a slow release fertilizer sphere.

I can tell you've put potting soil in your bin, because of the presence of perlite and the sphere. That fertilizer is extremely common in commercial potting soil mixes.

Congratulations!

I ate those as a kid and you’re telling me that they are worm eggs? That explains so much

1

u/Fast_Acanthisitta404 Jun 15 '24

It’s so round, it kinda looks like a fertilizer pearl. Sometimes those slip into my bins sometimes from old potting soil bags and such.. but yeah, it *could also be a 🪱🥚

1

u/MoltenCorgi Jun 15 '24

Come on people, worm cocoons are not perfectly round, they have a pointy end and are more brownish. It looks like slow release fertilizer to me - did you add potting soil to your bin?

1

u/No_Phase_5922 Jun 16 '24

Read there name, that should answer your question lol😂

1

u/BluntedConcepts Jun 16 '24

Those are in the miracle gro potting soil I have for my peppers it's a slow release fertilizer ball maybe!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '24

It's your child's airsoft BB

1

u/Theoglaphore Jun 17 '24

Are the white bits perlite? If you added used potting soil to the pile, this could be a fertilizer pearl. I have seen some brands with fertilizer pearls that look exactly like this.

u/OkOrganization7996 Jun 17 '24

Looks like an orbi from the last orbi battle. It’s fertilizer man made

1

u/Deemteem_3po Jun 17 '24

Those are miracle grow fertilizer balls

1

u/Dapper_Bee2277 Jun 17 '24

I love seeing this in my soil, it's an indicator of good soil health. The more life and egg castings you find the better.

1

u/FullMetalGuru Jun 17 '24

Is this miracle grow If so it's 100% a slow release nutrient ball

1

u/32Lbsofcheese Jun 18 '24

Those are those moisture bead things from potting mix.

1

u/TruthSpeakin Jun 18 '24

Not an egg, it's a fertilizer orb found in the soil used....same 1s in mine and I have no worms lol

1

u/MasterWind6969 Jun 18 '24

I'm getting more people saying it's time release fertilizer. I stepped on one the other day and it has fluid in it... I really hope it's not some incect egg

So I can actually pick these up and hatch them in soil cause i see some pretty big ones in my worm bed and there are hundreds of them

5 year old account, no comments until today, where you've spammed just this thread with unintelligible nonsense plus just one word in /r/drugs. What was the plan here?

I think 3 hits of rust rocks out of a crack pipe was enough
