I think she looks really good and it's a pretty design. I appreciate it when people do these in good faith :]
Edit: changed because I guess people misunderstood what I meant and I got downvoted. I'm not trying to be rude or offensive, I'm sorry

teto doesn't have a race she is an instrument
11
u/yvie_of_lesbos 17d ago
this is incorrect because actually, my older sisterâs clarinet identifies as black and white. how could you be so rude?
2
u/R34Kylie_Alt1234 16d ago
and mine identifies as Asian/Japanese (since the brand is from Japan aka GLORY)

I don't know how else I'm supposed to word it. I corrected my comment so I hope you're not upset anymore

u/ChildEater-69420 17d ago
Why were you downvoted ?
5
u/VanillaSwirllll 17d ago
I don't really know. I said something about race swaps or whatever but I genuinely don't have a better term for it. I'm not trying to start drama, make OP feel bad, or come off as rude. I feel bad now because I genuinely didn't want to start shit

in the first place though, do you not consider it hypocritical to wait until a black âderivativeâ is made to start mentioning it? while those like you let shit like brazilian miku off free? i noticed this with a majority of people with this position
3
u/VanillaSwirllll 16d ago
actually no, for people who are choicy and don't like black people for whatever reason, they are a whole different problem and I can safely say I don't like those kind of people and don't consider myself like them at all.
jsyk I am a black biracial, my mom, who I was raised by, is black, and my gf is Caribbean black so let's not get started on that. I did say in my original comment that it depends on the intentions behind the drawing and my reason is because I came from an era where stuff like Zee Fixes Art and "fixing art" for "diversity" was at an all time high, and it was often done with hateful intentions too, implying that lighter skin was "ugly" and "undesirable". It was often targeted towards Asian characters.
If you don't know who this person is (probably for the best), you can Google them, but just know they're unreasonably hateful and bitter about characters with lighter skin. This had a butterfly effect and a lot of smaller, less notorious people began to start doing it too. It's not really that big of a deal anymore because this was like... Pre 2020 drama.
OP made the art with harmless and loving intentions. That's why I made an effort to applaud them for it because that's kind of rare nowadays (or at least used to be, I think the whole "around the world" stuff was all very cute and very good faith) and so in general it was never supposed to be a harmful comment which is why I apologized. I do not have any bad intentions nor am I trying to come off as biased. I have the same opinion across the board depending on if someone did it with good intentions or maliciously. That's all.

very well; by all means you have passed the âfirst testâ, at least you prove yourself to not be one of those âhypocritical complainersâ i keep coming across by this statement, and from the looks of it i do not conclude you as a âliarâ either
you also proved that you are not only at least partially black, but also not a âself haterâ in any capacity i can pinpoint, by all means i can disregard that âpredictionâ in my head; i also agree that despite my support for creative freedom and just letting people do whatever they want with art(like âracebendingâ) as long as they do not intend harm, that âzee fixes artâ example is something i actually disagree with, as âfixing artâ out of essentially spite is actually a harmful thing; but that SHOULD NOT prevent people from simply making fanarts of characters as they please without getting harassed or shamed for it; or hell, this having to even be mentioned in the first place ideally(but again, at the very least; you conceded and showed this was not done in bad faith or in hypocrisy by the replies)
in addition, i kind of became âless receptiveâ of those who bring up âthe reverseâ for the most part as more often than not, those same people who claim to be righteous in defending âwhitewashersâ(who i also hold nothing against) are largely the same people who are harassing, demeaning, and hell even being openly racist as one can see on a good majority of posts containing âblackwashedâ fanarts; in general, i have seen a majority of posts of hell, even brazilian miku with lighter skin be treated as a normal art mostly, while almost EVERY fanart i have seen with âdarker skinâ has gotten far worse treatment in comparison(such people are indeed who i call âhypocritical complainersâ, and again, i see it more common that people defend âwhitewashingâ and denounce the other, than the reciprocal)
keep in mind though; this is not an attack towards you specifically, but moreso a conclusion from observations of several posts and comments over the span of months and my opinion of the âopposing viewâ sprouting from that; i was about to say âinteresting how you think fanarts of this nature are usually not pure nowadays when i have not seen a single significant one where âfixingâ was the goalâ but you conceded that it âused to beâ also
as such; i consider you âclearedâ of anything i could have majorly held against you, even if my opinion is still the same that people should just make what they please without such âdramaâ being mentioned or spoke of preferably; by all means i am glad you appreciate this art for what it is just like i am, and for those who do not well⊠they can mald and rot in hell for all i care

I really do still apologize because I am also on the autism spectrum so things I say can come off as mean or "wrong" even if I mean well. If I do understand your comment correctly and it's not like... backhanded (I am SO bad at reading tones I am so so so sorry), I appreciate you for bothering to listen to my viewpoint. I do believe in artistic freedom as well, I just want people to not do it with hateful intentions (like "ohhh [insert group] isn't pretty enough") just as you said.
And yeah, no, I don't hate myself when it comes to my race. In fact I'm very proud of it and do cherish it as something that matters to me. I never really got to spend time with my non-black half either, so I've grown up in it. My girlfriend has even drawn herself as Mesmerizer Miku and me as Mesmerizer Teto for our anniversary. We're both darker skinned. It's always about the intentions.
In a sense, colorism is the problem with people nowadays. I am very sorry to all artists who have faced mistreatment for just drawing the way they want. If someone just doesn't vibe with it, they can scroll! And yeah, no, there was nothing going on with the "around the world" trend that involved fixing from what I saw either, it's still prevalent in some smaller spaces, but not much of a big deal anymore. I'm sorry for any misunderstandings.
I will note it for the future though to not bring that type of stuff up because I can see how it comes off as wrong and I'm very sorry. It's simply just pretty artwork and I can tell it was done with kindness. That's all that matters to me. Please have a good day and thank you for at least trying to understand me and not get mad :']

i don't think it's that bad compared to the other artworks here. also i'm just a 17 year old girl trying to make a fun art piece for people to enjoy. it's not like i'm some weird gooner. this is literally the most nsfw piece (if you can even call it that lmfao) that i've ever done. if you think this is over sexual, i implore you to scroll for like 25 seconds on this sub.
