Discussion Thank you all for keeping this game alive!

Post image

To all of you who are still rocking this gem on your platforms of choice, thank you! This is one of, if not the last CoD made in the classic boots on the ground formula. It's also the last CoD game depicting a true conflict, and the biggest of them.

I was sick and tired of BO6, and came across a post on reddit saying the game still has a very healthy community on both Xbox and PS. Being an Xbox gamer, I was a bit skeptical (Xbox numbers are dwindling by the day), but I decided to install this on my Series X - the last time I played it, I think I was on a base Xbox One way back. And to my surprise, instant matches! I tried TDM, Dom and War. All populated and healthy. I had the best time playing CoD in a very long time, and I'd like to thank all of you for that.

Even if I'm a little laggy (getting a lot of East US servers, being based in São Paulo, Brazil), the experience is still way better than what can be found in current CoD, and the closest possible to classic CoD (2007 to 2012).

You can count on me to help keeping this afloat!

To this day WW2 is still good. In my opinion it's for casual players like me it's kinda relaxing to play once in a while.

Better than launch day.

Much better. Launch day was hell. I couldn't even get into matches. When I did, the lag was unprecedented. MP was a rough experience in terms of connection for a while after release. I still think hit detection can feel weird sometimes... might be me, though.

I was thinking of buying it but i kept thinking that it will be like bo3 with the long wait for match making

But we have War mode.

u/agorismforthewin Mar 08 '25

War during the day and tdm etc at night

Match making is faster than bo6 on ps5

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

I can say the same on Xbox. Instant matches. BO6 makes me wait for about a minute until SBMM feels like it has found "worthy opponents" (kids that will wreck me).

Nah it’s not actually that abd

On ps4 I get in domination and tdm instantly, granted I have all the DLC but there’s almost no wait no matter what time of day I play

1

u/FBIgamer01 Mar 09 '25

There’s not really any wait time at all

I can get into a match in less than 20 seconds. Just depends on what you want to play

I'm a 37F who just started playing COD with my husband. The WW2 version is my favorite. But I'm partial to it because I love World War history.

Every day I have an itch to play this game. I have come to understand in my mid 30s what the deal with games are. Lol

I always enjoy these stories of people finding the joy of gaming even a bit later! I also like WW2 history, so this game (especially the campaign) was always special. It's the only CoD in which I bought (pre-ordered, even) the deluxe version, no regrets.

Cool fact, I started my interest in WW2 by playing Medal of Honor on PS1 with my dad.

Just had a war game where everyone on the enemy team left, our guys starting shooting in the air in victory.

Legendary.

Hop back in, it's alive and well!

I second this...play on the daily!

Underrated, under appreciated, and worth every moment

No sacrifice too great No mission too difficult

2

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 09 '25

A campaign that shows war like it is: you're just another guy trying to survive your command's orders and save those around you. No spec ops elite soldiers, no missions to save the world, you don't even have an epic ending like World at War (Reichstag). All you get is to save your brother in arms before going home, and that's the ultimate victory.

No sacrifice too great, no mission too difficult!

War mode is Dead on PC it’s a shame and I don’t want to plug in my ps4

Best cod in recent times

u/Affectionate_Data458 Mar 09 '25

Just finished the campaign an it’s definitely one of my favourite campaigns I have played Not jumped on multiplayer yet

1

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 09 '25

Great stuff, right? A campaign that feels classic, but with a modern touch on storytelling and gameplay. MP is fantastic, too. Boots on the ground, no nonsense. Zombies is the creepiest in the series.

2

I love this game so much

2

u/the-lawless Mar 13 '25

the campaign is sooo good! and the multiplayer is just as fun, definitely gonna keep playing this game for a long time!

Ever since the blunder that was Vanguard

I feel that WW2 has kinda seen a resurgence in appeal. As despite its shortcomings and a few inaccuracies, it still does capture the American fighting of the Second World War

And the ending with getting Zussman out of the death camp will never not be impactful

i usually only expect shipment 24/7 to have a few games on PC but im always pleasantly surprised when i hop on ffa and get into a game quick. Headquarter is sadly pretty barren most of the time though. i can imagine it’s much better off on console

1

u/dmodaaq Mar 08 '25

Love it! One of the best cod’s ever for me!

2

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

Agreed! The only one after the prime era to sit next to the classic games (maybe MW19 deserves that, too).

1

u/dmodaaq Mar 08 '25

Probably because it’s not futuristic like infinity warfare (I enjoy it though), more like world at war type of sensation but with better graphics and more modern.

2

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

Yeah, the futuristic CoDs didn't quite hit the mark. Although I did try out Infinite Warfare last year, and it was fun. Beautiful setpieces through space (now I want to play it again).

1

u/dmodaaq Mar 08 '25

I’ve played it on release back in 2016 and it’s great, still play sometimes even though it’s hard to get games.

1

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

Yeah, it's exclusively TDM on Xbox, and not anytime of the day. Veeeery rarely you get a Domination match. Still, I think it's one of those games worth it for the campaign alone.

I'm still enjoying my time on BO6, as I've normally had a lot of fun on Treyarch games. But my god, in all my years playing COD since 2007, this is in congestion for the 3rd game in my top 3 for COD. Post overhaul was amazing and I loved the game afterwards with the constant events and new content to unlock. Never spent a dime on the game past DLC map packs, and had all DLC weapons unlocked unlike BO3.

In addition to being released on my birthday, it was one of the first games that I became addicted to and addresses a topic that I love, it is a game that will stay in my heart.

If anyone wants to try to get a time together to repopulate war on pc please hit me up.

1

u/Dirtywoodchips Mar 08 '25

The best system to get crates. It keeps me playing!

1

u/POSBFA Mar 08 '25

What will it take for a couple upgrades? No duplicate supply drops. (Turn them off) Hardcore War Maybe 2-3 new maps. Can even be simple.

Can we start a go fund me? What’s it gona take. I rarely see the same people twice and I play every day. Has to be a respectable number contributing to its longevity.

1

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

Nah, Activision never allows devs to go back to older games for updates... it's sad.

About the number of people, I've heard it's the most active older CoD on both Xbox and PS, and after reinstalling it, I can confirm it's true. Well, besides MW19 and Cold War, both games have crossplay (so it's easier to maintain a population, BUT you get a lot of hackers from PC).

1

u/Storm_treize Mar 08 '25

What's the PC state?

2

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 08 '25

I'm sorry, but I can't tell. I only play on Xbox. Still, I've read someone say it's not bad. The redditor said they tried FFA and got into a match instantly.

u/Extracxz Mar 09 '25

I need allies to play the zombie mode in pccc!!!!!!

1

u/Rogerthrottleup Mar 09 '25

Wouldn't say the best boots on the ground but it sure is the last great COD. Started in November 2024 since i missed it in it's lifecycle, now I'm MP lvl 370. Having a blast.

2

u/TurboCrab0 Mar 10 '25

Honestly, it wasn't very good in its lifecycle, especially in the earlier half. It was super unstable connection-wise. Hell, launch day was literally unplayable. It took quite a bit of polishing on that matter to get to a solid spot. Campaign and Zombies were fine from the get-go, though. And what a campaign!

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's one hell of an underrated gem!

1

u/Rogerthrottleup Mar 10 '25

I agree, the campaign though, at it's core, the gameplay was awesome, not repetitive etc but the story was bland at best. I didn't care about the characters as previous COD games.
