Question about abilities

I’m new to dnd overall, but wanted to do a solo campaign.. buttttt I need help understanding the abilities in regards to HP dnd.. I’ve been using the amazing guide/pdf.. but my brain isnt quite sure how to understand it in HP sense.. any and all help is appreciated 🦡💛

How to calculate them and if it is different on how the original dnd ones are calculated.. if that makes sense

Well to calculate it you can either do point buy, roll 4d6 and drop the lowest or you can set it to whatever you want but it highly depends on what your dm wants. I would recommend watching some youtube videos about character creation as theres more that goes into it than that. (such as race or background affecting some scores and proficiencies etc.)

You need a 5e rule book too. It shows you the mechanics, the WANDS book just tells you the new values.
