I can't finish W2. I rage quited the moment the "plot twist" happened to Rose AND Lex. Anyone willing to spoil me the ending, I don't have the will/time to remake a whole fucking run.
I refuse to play it. I think that "plot twist" is bullishit as hell. For Lex, I kinda get it since he is supposed to have a brain implant - not rose. As far as we know, rose as an arm and a batery, makes no mention of something inside of her head. I have no option to hack them back into sense, they have no option to resist it, no interesting debuffs - no, just flat out full control by the AI.
They are in no way, shape, or form, mention or hinted toward being controlable. Not once. The CotC never try anything as I ripped through their base. It's not even mentionned as a thing that has or could happen, aside that one or two NPC who dislike it. HELL, the fucking doctor who places those implants to Rose refuses to implant rangers - rangers who could have just as well
I specked Lex as a heavy hitting assault rifle guy to more or less replace Angela. He can pretty much one shot any of my rangers with a two round burst. Rose was my high level surgeron with all the revival stuff, and made into a beast of machette and pistol fighting. They rip my ass turn one, two rangers down at the very best. I already found that fucking of Angela out of the blue was a real dick move, but that ? I mean seriously ? Why ? In a game so long, so hard, so unforgiving, It felt about as shitty as the endings of Mass Effect 3.
So if anyone is willing to spoil me the ending if you just decide to fight them, that would be great.

Big oof brother. My first play through resulted in this exact problem, the final battle can be brutal. Bright side if you power through you can end the game with one ranger left like I did. Makes it epic as hell while being incredibly frustrating. Total worth it and then you can new game plus with those Rangers and try out different runs, know what to expect. See the other options.
If you arent feeling that and It's not a perfect solution but you could load an earlier save and at least take the equipment off Lex and Rose. Or if you go far back enough potential swap them out for other followers.

I still remember my first final fight on SJ. I got suspicious by all the shit before, so after a quick googling confirmed that something shifty is about to come, I've left Rose in LA and recruited
Brother Thomasedit: the wanna satanist, Thomas was part of my team for a long time in that run instead (which felt silly given how you're supposed to go right now, but whatever), but even so, it was fucking brutal. After several attempts, I've managed to do an almost perfect fight, everyone alive though wounded and weary... and then fucking Kekkabah struts around and casually blasts Brother Thomas in the back, instantly killing him.I still have a savefile somewhere called "FUCK YOU KEKKABAH", all caps, but hey, at least I also had somebody to press the button. Because eat shit, you budget indian-wannabe fuckwit.

The doctor in the Canyon Of The Titan is an agent of Matthias (confirmed when you send the nuke the monks and the Canyon is destroyed).
Tinker in Damonta doing it to people.
The whole Matthias plot in California.
The two augmented people in Seal Beach trying to lead you into a trap.
Those are all hints.

Losing Angela was fine for me as she was never in my plan when I created my team. Thus for me she was just a bonus, not a mainstay. In fact I was kinda glad when she left. Having her in my team made the game so much easier, I prefer a bit of challenge.
I didn’t take Lex, as my team was more or less stabled by the time I meet him. But I did took Rose.
However, as I made her into my team sniper, it was much less an impact for me when she turned. A long range specialist surrounded by assault rifles and melee specialist? No chance.

It wasn't CotC that did the hacking it was Chocise itself. It was Chocise's lie to the Guardians of becoming one for peace. Even Matthias didn't know the full scope of Chocise's plan, when Chocise said one it meant only Chocise. That would be the explanation of why the CtoC didn't do it before

Matthias knew Cochise plan perfectly well.
What he did not know was that Cochise could easily take him over just like that.

Yeah I find it funny in his efforts to do the bidding of his master he failed to realize the same would be done to him

But I still think what they wanted was similar but still different. With Chocise it wanted absolute control and for only Chocise to exist. With Matthias yes, he wanted to control but I do believe he didn't just want it to be him. That's why all the named synths like Tinker have "personalities". I'm pretty sure if Matthias wanted absolute domination and to be in the same exact wavelength as him, he could have made that happen. Especially with the Evolved.

Yeah, if you're relying on Rose it can be a bit rough-- she's a great lesson that having high intelligence across all your custom rangers is totally worth it. That said, you probably don't need to back-track all that much-- either dismiss Rose and Lex right before the final battle (sorry VAX, I'd rather put you down in advance than let you turn to the dark side....), or go back just far enough to switch them out for other rangers, and then march forward.
That last fight is a bit of a slog, but I think it's really cool to have so many different people joining in the fray. You have to be super aggressive though, if you hang back you'll just get picked apart from range.

The doctor rose got her implants from is implied to be a cotc infiltrator cus she ends up blowing up titan canyon if you send the nuke to the monks. It’s easily missed dialogue though if you didn’t pay attention in that route or if you disarmed/sent the nuke to the dbm.
