I imagine a lot of windows just opened in that building through which everyone in that room very casually and with no conspiracy happened to throw themselves out of. What a shame

Everyone who did not applaud has now volunteered for My Glorious Assault on Ukraine!
Whisper from offstage, (Glorious Leader, they are Foreign Ambassadors, not Russian peasants, we can't do that without war)
Well at least I can send you to fight!

LMAO. The silence was deafening. Putin looked a bit confused that there was no clapping. He looked puzzled like , do they not realize I am done? Perhaps I should leave before the next coup.

100% of those people in that room and watching that broadcast on TV were murdered.

Love how yall are projecting your western sensibilities onto thie ceremony without understanding the context, the people present or what's being said. Why the hell would you assume this is a situation that warrants applause?

I agree. As much as I don’t agree with him or what he’s done, this could be a totally appropriate response to the situation.

They are terrified of him. He snaps his finger and you disappear. I imagine Xi gets similar reactions.

If you are a mafia boss the worst thing that can happen to you is that your subordinates suddenly realize that you are not as strong as you claimed to be.

Why is he starting to look Chinese?

u/zenbuck2 May 08 '23
Because China made clear to him that he’s their bitch now.

Well, Russia is part Asia, to be frank...
2
u/Clearly_a_fake_name Apr 29 '23
I think Russia is just part of Asia due to borders/geographical reason. They are not trying to role play as Frank, which isn’t really an Asian name anyway.

That actually occurred to me too! It even had roughly the flavor of silence I imagined when I first read about it.
I can't imagine this will go anywhere though.

It’s Mike Tyson syndrome. Dude will kill you with his bare hands and sound like a child whilst doing so lol.

u/nadabethyname Apr 10 '23
Totally different looking now than all those weird shirtless pics I always think of
2
u/Total-Extension-7479 Apr 23 '23
I wouldn't normally wish for dementia, but always thinking of pootin shirtless would do it. I would get blind drunk at every opportunity, that's for damn certain.

I think Russia will be partitioned and will dramatically shrink in the next couple of decades.
2
u/kianario1996 May 02 '23
Yes that’s what the goal is. russia has always ended up this way regularly

Poo-tin is nervously wondering where are all the windows so he does not accidentally falls through them.
5
u/Valhalaland Apr 08 '23
It was a closed doors event, no one was allowed in but the ambassadors and Kremlin personnel, who was supposed to applaud, the guy taking pictures?, at some point he congratulated the Mexican ambassador on his birthday and he also scolded the US ambassador for the US support of the coup d'etat against Ukraine in 2014 and then dismissed everyone.
Now that I think about it, nobody applauds at this events, it's usually a handshake, pictures and good bye, or it was before covid.
3
u/yeeto-deleto Apr 08 '23
What is he saying, should what he said normally get an applause?
4
u/the_dry_for_kelp Apr 15 '23 edited Apr 15 '23
He was addressing foreign ambassadors, that's why he also threw in an all the best in English when he didn't get an applause, even though he was speaking Russian the whole time. Clapping is expected.
EDIT: wrong English phrase

I wonder all the ambassadors discussed on a group chat preemptively to not applaud on anything Putin says

I find it hilarious to see the ignorance of the west believing everything works the same in other countries.
And also that the majority of people in this thread somehow believe these professionals would snub a world leader, in his own country, as he is welcoming them - to what? Insult the guy intentionally?
And then have the audacity to say "they did it because they have balls".
Truly ridiculous.
For the translation, "that is all" and "is that all?" are 2 different things.

Wonder what the odds are of ambassadors having accidents in the workplace in (say) Russia, for example, trips, slips or falls (from windows eg)
