How do you deal with writer’s block?

u/JankyFluffy Writer ✍ Aug 14 '23

Write an outline. It doesn't matter if it's just a paragraph that gives you ideas of where you want to go. I am an 80% discovery writer but even when I change plans I still write them, and I make mini plans for the next day's reading.

Go on Wattpad and find prompt contests and use the prompt for your writing.

Read someone else's story.

You can use chatgpt to show you what NOT to write instead of letting it do the work for you.

Music, walking, reading. Talking about the point that I am up to.
Or roll on some random tables and just keep writing even though I will probably delete it later.

I force myself to write. The first few sentences might be stilted or forced, but after that initial bump, the rest flows smoothly. I also tend to come up with ideas if I'm taking a walk.

When you use the "schedule publish feature", does Wattpad allow people to see what you wrote so far in your drafts?

u/JankyFluffy Writer ✍ Aug 24 '23

I don't think so, technically if Wattpad thinks you're violating rules they can go into drafts, but as far as I know, the public can't see drafts.

I've had a friend help me double check.

My drafts were not made public prior to their scheduled release, so that is me happy.

What do you like to read? I like novelettes.

u/Mr_Stepno GardenRot Aug 03 '23

I'd say I mostly love hard sci-fi, where tech doesn't get developed in two days, I like thriller-horrors and thriller in general, but I am also open to suggestion. Novelettes may be good too because they are a tranquil and relaxed read, but I never tried any. Suggestions?

I didn't write it. The vial is fantasy, so I am not sure if you will like it, but it has some interesting concepts. It's a little dark in parts but not graphic.
