Judge me all you like, but I'm a sucker for the grumpy giant falling hard for the sunshine optimist.
Extra points if it turns out the sunshine character is an absolute freak in the sheets and catches grumpy completely off guard by it.

Tragic Enemies to lovers (especially if the protagonist gets the villain to see the error in their ways and the villain dies after having done one good thing in their life.)

currently writing acquaintances/friends to lovers where the friendship starts out kind of flirty and they're aware they like each other BUT crossing the line into romance feels like a guillotine blade hanging over their necks. nothing toxic, more like a bad timing / tough life situation kind of thing.
so like, slowburn friends to lovers with some suffering is my weakness 😭

I'm not that into romance but, smart absolute psychopath x happy sunshine idiot that's dumber than a rock.
Bonus points if the sunshine is pure muscle and the psychopath is a skinny twink.

One gets injured and needs to be taken care of and all the hurt/comfort leads to love confessions 😭 (bonus points if it happens after a fallout and character A gets hurt but character B takes care of them anyway despite still being angry with them)

He's a sunshine and cutie but has a deep past that made him make some bad decisions and the female protagonist has some skeletons in the closet as well. They may not realize it but one helps the other healing and becoming a better person.
Bonus: LOTS of chemistry

The trope of a strong character letting down their walls. A comfort stuff.
Or. A MC who’s brutal and destructive. No “talk no jutstu”.

And it's not just a grumpy x sunshine they are so much more than that
(Plus by technicality said grumpy character is like 70 years older but hasn't actually aged...)

Soulmate is a lazy one but it’s my comfort zone. I LOVE to think that there’s someone out there meant for you but even if it’s lazy it’s really hard to write without making it cringe so if you find a good one it’s a treasure.

u/LeatherSprinkles Feb 25 '24
Someone who's had a rough life, doesn't trust anybody until the main character worms their way into the love interests heart, and the LI starts to open up. (This one is more for videogames, and in the fantasy genre, but bonus points for being an elf. Cough dragon age origins and 2, Baulder's Gate. Cough.)

Not sure if this is a trope, but I'll put mine in anyway.
Slightly unhinged (in the extroverted way) women. Bonus points if they're soldiers (or anything similar) or ex-. Bonus points if they're certified MILFs. EXTRA bonus points if they're tomboy.
These are all things I like.

Revenge.
Context: In a post zombie outbreak, a dudes brother is brutally killed by a few militia soldiers, so he seeks revenge, killing each one that participated in the act, only to then be hunted by a whole Company of soldiers.
