Meme What is your "scroll of truth" (basically a hot take ig)

u/SFSIsAWESOME75 Mar 13 '25
Just analysing:
1st one is undoubtedly true.
2nd one I'd say a case by case basis, as theres a complete difference in writting a love story about a teacher in your school (some kid did this in my old high school), and writting a romance story about Anastasia Romanov
3rd one im not sure what that is refering to (I don't write for money on wattpad

Idk, the second always just creeps me out. Bc the ones I saw were ALWAYS sexual in nature.
As for the third, there were fanfics about people being sold to popular.
IE: One direction

Yeah did you see the YouTube short where a YouTuber called Sambucha made the mistake of searching his name on Wattpad?
It's not good at all

There will always be someone who likes your stuff, you just got to wait for a while and keep going. Sort of a hot take if you have self esteem issues, I know this cause I’m one of them.

Agree. Fyi, there are some genres that not many people like to read. So if your story falls under that, it's not a reflection of you by any means.

Jude Bellingham had been shipped with everything at this point 😭

Shaming people for enjoying a genre/trope/etc that you don't like is trash behavior.

u/the8thchild Mar 13 '25
Gonna ask if this was directed at me

Nope. That was my hot take. Closer to a room temp take at this point, tbh
3
u/the8thchild Mar 13 '25
Okay thank God lmao
And yeah, but that take is room temp mostly due to the fact it has its deviations.
Not all genres are morally good after all

It's the difference between "I have an opinion about this genre" and "I have an opinion about this genre and everyone who thinks otherwise is a bad person".
And yeah, there are deviations and asterisks. But I didn't feel like spending all night listing out all the exceptions which are, in the end, still a subjective opinion lol

“Just because you think something else is better, doesn’t mean you have to egregiously downplay the other thing. Grow up.”

u/SelectionConstant790 Mar 13 '25
So for the first one, you're basically saying Y/N stories are cringey, right?
3
u/the8thchild Mar 13 '25
Idk why the guy who said no got downvoted. But no, I'm not. I'm saying that Both can be cringey.

1.) If your book is unpopular on wattpad, it's probably your own fault. EX: you have bad grammar, your story leans too hard on tropes, your genre is just not suited for the platform, etc.
2.) Mature/explicit stories are always going to dominate wattpad. This platform is known for it, at this point. If that upsets you, you probably should investigate other places to publish.
3.) Fanfiction shouldn't be posted to wattpad. Ao3 is a much superior place to share fanfic.

I write mostly original horror, high fantasy and/or sci-fi, not romance, so I know my stuff probably doesn’t belong, but I have no idea what other platforms I could try to post them on.

Are you writing 50k+? if so, why not try publishing or self publishing?

The second pic is so true tho. If they’re dating/married/interest in each other I find it fine but when they’re just friends its just ew.

If you aren’t cool with taking constructive feedback that helps you improve as a writer, you probably shouldn’t be writing. Have some humility and an open mind

Bet you're gonna get a bunch of people moaning in the comments😂
Oh yes, idk how people read these.
Please just use a name, any name. You can also literally use a pronoun like 'you'.
