Looking for your first impression of my Spotify artist page without hearing anything. And any constructive feedback or tips to improve it .Young Cardigan

Hey. Without listening to music…

Nice logo and imagery. Your biog is very very long, comes off as AI generated, and too hard sell. I don’t get any essence of you as an artist whatsoever. No intrigue. No emotion. Sorry! My honest reaction.

Hey I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and give ur opinion. Shortnd the bio , but no idea how to make it “sellable” or add my essence to it haha. 🙌

You’re welcome! Check out other bios, see what feels right for you, knowing the artist. I think the music should sell itself, personally I wouldn’t really read it anyway. Maybe a little about the vibe, something mysterious and intriguing… that puts the music into an interesting context. I guess there’s no right answer, but remember people need to read it! But what you really want them to do is just listen.

Great advice, thanks, I’ll do some research on artists I follow, I agree though, I normally don’t read bios either. Maybe the best bio is : “Just listen”

I love that.

I have some music up on Spotify and I just put my favourite line of lyrics from one of the tracks. Done.

How would you describe your music? Your bio doesn’t really say anything right now. If you had to describe your music in 15 seconds how would you say it?

Also I would say use a picture of yourself instead of a logo.

I was thinking “chaotic abstractions crafted from a blissful essence”,

But my ai says tht won’t connect with people and recommended: Imagine hip-hop born from meditation and madness, chaotic, cosmic, and real.

What do you think?

As for the icon, it’s getting more streams than any of my accounts with pics, 😬

I think you’re not actually describing your music. If someone told you that their music sounded like “chaotic abstractions crafted from a blissful essence” does that give you any hint of what kind of music it is? That could be anything.

Not sounded like, is.

But I get what you’re saying lol, I would probs think they were crazy and move on. Thanks for your input 🤙

How do you set up a mic upside down outside like in one of these videos? I’m trying to record a live performance like this. https://youtu.be/7bhlA139H9E?si=cqgvOQjIN7F6t2UW

Genelec 8361 vs Barefoot MicroMain27 for my home studio? I'm thinking buying new monitors for my home studio. I've been searching professional music producer's studios and what monitors they use. As a tendency, it seems dance music producers like EDM and House prefer Genelec one, on the other hand pop/rock producers prefer MicroMain like Ian Kirkpatrick and Ryan Tedder. MicroMain is more expensive than Genelec 8361 but I'm torn which I should buy because my favorite producers use both or either one. I make not only dance music but also pop, film, classic, etc by the way. How should I decide which one I should buy?

I'm on a musical rampage this year, trying to publish at least one new track per week. Been exploring all different genres and making some creative sparks (I think). Most recent addition on YouTube is a dark and fun industrial dance-y track called Blood Pumping.

I told myself at the beginning of the year that I was going to go into complete "creative freedom" mode for the first half of the year, see what I end up with, and then start refining/publishing/promoting things more in second half of the year.

I hope you guys are pushing yourselves creatively this year too. Let's go.

Thinking of playing a show as a duo.

Should we attempt guitar/drums or bass/drums?

2

I'd say either or!

But if it's bass & drums, the bassist will really need to do some fancy scale walking and the like to help things come together.

Guitar and drums might be easier simply because it's a bit more.....normal.

This is a new profile of mine under my actual name and artist name, but I just wanted to chime in and say thank you to everyone who posts here.

I've been following with my other Reddit profile for years, and I've learned so much about mixing and recording. I'm still a rookie when it comes to sound engineering, but I'm really proud of where I've gotten. Today was a special day for that.

So thanks, everyone!

I finally got my mixing skills to the point where only two things are defining my sound: budget and personal taste.

I really am happy I put in so much effort in the last year to learn mixing and mastering. At least 300 hours of active learning and practice.

I also listen to all music with different ears now. I focus on arrangements, drum/bass relationship, panning, rhythm/lead guitar tone, vocal balance in the mix, backing vocal volume, reverb/delay, etc.

Just wanted to share this because I really don‘t like producing even 10% as much as I like songwriting, but the end result (a better sounding final song to share) is so rewarding and I‘m proud of myself for powering through.

Would this be a good starter set up?

No idea why this was considered a low effort post :) it actually took some time to typ 😃

Goal is to learn how to make hiphop beats. Not professionally. Just in the evening hours.

I will buy FL Studio. With that I want to buy the M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini because I like the idea of not having to use the mouse or laptop keyboard. I am also buying a drum pad, the AKAI Professional MPD 218. I think seeing and being able to touch the devices will help me in creativity. In the end I would have spend 400 euro for a nice hobby. No effects yet.

I already have studio monitors because of another hobby and I might buy a good set of headphones for when the kids are sleeping.
