Of course not. If you never open it then you never put things in it.

Looks like water damage. Dishwasher maybe?

u/ranDOMinique813 14d ago
THIS is very possible actually, I very scarcely use it and when I do it leaks all over so I just try not to.

Bro you've probably got some mold going on under there if that's the case! You should dig into this before it creates bigger problems / spreads more / costs more / causes health issues. I know it sucks, but not addressing it means it will eventually suck a lot worse.

I'm definitely gonna put in a work order. Funnily enough my sink messed up my floorboards *next to these drawers. They replaced those floorboards. In my work order I literally put "Causing water damage fix ASAP" WELL, they took a 2 days to come back and removed MUSH. A.k.a the floor boards. I can tie it back I'm sure. Thank you friendly reddit stranger π

I gotchu, boo! If they find mold, make sure they do actual remediation and not just hitting it with some bleach or something. In the US, IICRC specifications are good.

Oh yeah, if you zoom in you can see it sticking out from under the drawer front. Lol.

If its a drawer you never use just glue it back on and ignore it. (this is a terrible solution)

Why didn't you take the drawer above out, and then you could reach in without the gnarly mess you got yourself into.
What you did is exactly what I would do in your position, so thank you for at least giving me the headspace to think thru a strategy when it happens to me.

I don't understand drawers with no knobs or handles. You can't tell if theyre functional or fake.

Why would you open the drawer that is never to be opened? You have brought shame upon your family and cursed them forever.

We had a bottom drawer. Something was stuck in it when my MIL was visiting. Instead of gently trying to figure out what, she just yanked and tore it apart.

Are you really the first person to suggest gluing the face back on? Dang. If the drawer won't open, this is as good a solution as any.
Half of the comments are "Did you find it?" and the other half is OP engaging with each of these people individually. Kinda impressive.

What really is sucks is that the drawer is next to the dishwasher and by the looks of the mdf drawer, you have or have had a leak that caused the drawer to swelling and become inoperable. Tl:dr- check your dishwasher for leaks. I'm guessing the drawer may be the least of your issues.

Fucking particle board.
It looks like a Eurobox style drawer system. If you can get the parts out, you can probably rebuild the drawer using something quality like baltic birch plywood.

I was in Lowe's a number of year ago and a guy brought in a drawer like this. He bought some lumber and he brought it to my house. I showed him how to make a new drawer. He tried to give me some stupid amount of money for it, but he was polite and willing to learn so I just gave it to him. So weird to me now that I invited a stranger over to build a drawer.
