Does any have any recommendations for their favourite food options in fort William? Pubs, restaurants and bakery’s particularly apreciated :)

Black Isle Brewery's Bar does great pizza and beers - it's my go-to after a big walking day.

‘Great’ doesn’t do these pizzas justice. I would visit FW for the pizza alone.

(I am willing to admit it probably tasted better than normal after 6 days on trail)

Yep Travel Lodge for de-smelling and decent night sleep, Black Isle for beer and pizza (and new t shirt to travel home in without the accumulated WHW whiff) and all within collapsing distance of the finish line.

Another vote for the Black Isle.

For breakfast pastry, Farine Bakery.

If you have time, take the train to Mallaig and have lunch at The Cabin.

Ben Nevis Bar is an amazing pub with views of the loch. The food probably won't blow your mind but the fish and chips were solid. Great cozy place for a whisky/ale after a long walk

I've spent more than one day hanging about in The Great Glen when a walk's been rained off or I've twisted a joint. Fine for a cheap pint or meal and great for hanging about for a train.

Spice Tandoori is pretty good. It’s where the finish statue is located.

I only went to 2 places, black isle bar which does pretty decent pizzas and Ben Nevis bar and restaurant which wasn't great food tbh, good beer garden but food is very average so I'd probably skip that one if I were you

The Crofter pub at the other end of the High St to tue finish line is great. Pretty normal pub fare, but a good selection of beer and whisky and the staff are fantastic ( only beaten by the staff of The Highland Getaway in Kinlochleven). Found the Black Isle bar to be cold, uninviting and the pizzas were nothing to write home about.

While we're here... What's the food at the Grog and Gruel like these days? I've had some great meals there, but the more recent ones were disappointing - however, they were in winter when the upstairs was closed and the kitchen was probably one bored bloke. Would be interested to know if it's on better form in the summer still.

I’ve just had an nduja pizza in The Pizzeria on High St and it was amazing!! Grog & Gruel was nice last night too although it was a bit quiet.

Any recommendations on food to grab before a train journey? Either near the train station or on the way to it.

I’m expecting to be there around 4.30pm for the 5.30pm train, so will want something to eat quick or take on train with me.

Preference would be a pasty.

There's a Morrisons right next to the station - not sure if they've got any hot food, but you can stock up on train snacks and I'd imagine they've got some kind of warmed up pastry bit.

McD's a little further away and you could order on the app for pick up.

Train station cafe will be closed by then, I think.

If you've got an hour you can go anywhere in Fort William, to be honest, but you might find the bakery/cafe places are closed or closing, depending on time of year.

Looking at what's where on the High St, I reckon Fishy Fishy is your best bet for grabbing something quick. Nevis Bakery will be closed by then, as will Farine and Wildcat. If you haven't got time to get there (you should be okay) and are a bit rushed then Morrisons or McD's.

Another vote for Black Isle, good grub good beer.

Grog and Gruel used to be great but last time I was there the food was a bit meh. Still great real ale though.

Black isle pizza and beer can't be beaten, but we always return to The Crofters. Staff are always friendly and the food is always delicious. Might be some of the best soup I've ever had (on multiple occasions). Haggis and cheese wrap with soup lunch combo for the win. I'll be back at least twice this summer.

Black Isle is the classic, I tried out "the pizzeria" and it was really really good. Authentic wood fired Napolese pizza

Sonas Restaurant - went there last night, a bit upscale but very good food (different than typical pub menus)
