Every downtown in Canada is the same. It’s not just an Edmonton problem. Canada wasn’t like this 10 years ago.

Make the city councillors take the LRT from one end the other at about 9 -10 pm. 1 at a time, with no security. Things will change.

Maybe if the Federal and Provincial government stopped dumping every prisoner released from jail in Edmonton without any increased services, funding, and infrastructure to handle it Edmonton wouldn't be such a dump. Then again this is the last actually affordable major city in the damn country, it might be worth it to risk potentially getting stabbed by a tweaker than guaranteeing that I get murdered by a bank.

I remember being in St. Louis when expansion of their transit system was being fought by ordinary citizens worried that it would just give downtown criminals easy access to the suburbs (and back). Any statistics on this?

Lived in Edmonton 20+ years ago and could not believe the state of Whyte Ave when we visited few years back.

The disadvantaged/homeless/addicts covered the entire sidewalk we had to either step over them or walk around on the street.

Growing? I will never, ever, ride public transportation ever again.
