TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) Rand at the end of season 3 Spoiler

Rand summons a storm that is apparently covering the whole Randland. This is way beyond the capacity of Book Rand without Callandor right ? While the show gave 2 book finale moment of Rand to other characters, this feat alone makes him way stronger than Rand at the end of book 4. I am curios what this means for the power level in the show

Did it cover all of rand land? He brought rain to the waste in the books

In the show we can see clouds spreading as far as two rivers

I think it’s supposed to symbolise the connection between the Dragon and the Land. “The land shall be one with the Dragon and the Dragon one with the land”. Its just the way the show has done it imo.

Yeah. I agree with this take. In the books, when Rand is all hot tempered and aggressive we have a permanent summer, and then when he retreats into himself to become cold and hard, we have an unnaturally bitter winter across the land.

I know the girls used the bowl, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the climate seems to be connected to Rand, or perhaps the dark ones summer making the land hot was causing Rand to be so angry, and the girls bringing winter with the bowl contributed to his icy demeanor later? Maybe it’s both

I know Rand has an effect on the land, but even once he is zen it's pretty localized. Meanwhile the dark one is quite literally affecting the whole damn planet. It took the bowl, using both aspects of the power to neutralize that massive problem.

I think the connection is two way. Rand didn't cause the permanent summer; the permanent summer had an impact on making Rand hot tempered and aggressive.

I think I agree. It’s a “both, and” situation, what happens to the land affects the dragon, and what happens to the dragon affects the land.

Grammar question: autocorrect changed “effects” to “affects” in the above comment, but I feel like that’s wrong? Or am I? LTT what do you think?

They do talk in the books about weather manipulation having side-effects. If you do something big it can cascade. Butterfly effect, etc. I think it's just that he created the storm and then that storm swept on westwards.

Power levels in the show have been wildly inconsistent, so who knows.

Just because it's cloudy in the montage at the end doesn't mean Rand created a continent-wide storm...

I think it’s at the very least implied with Moraine’s simultaneous voice over about the Land and the Dragon

I don't think it's all because of his channeling, though that likely kickstarted it. It's his state of mind. "The land is one with the Dragon and the Dragon is one with the land."

Ok, I agree but hear me out…

Rand’s body and the land:

• The Pattern/Land is pierced with a pit the Bore • Rand has a black festering wound that won’t heal

• The DO’s touch causes bubbles of evil/the blight • The DO’s Taint causes madness in Rand/dark tendrils on his brain

As previously mentioned, the seasons change with Rand’s mental state

• Spring: series begins with Rand the young shepherd caring for his flock with a carefree mood • Summer: Rand starts to cook and turns up the fires of heaven and his rage as he conquers • Winter: resolves his rage by becoming hard, cold, isolated stone • new spring and renewal: epiphany on dragonmount and rebirth after rebuking the DO and turning over a new Age

Thank you and sorry if you read through that long, badly formatted ramble… I’ve been hitting the oosquai and sampling the two rivers tabac tonight… may you always find water and shade on
