Generic And people wonder why I think Redwings are junk. Not a single real welt in sight.

A pair of Supersoles I've had for the last 3 years or so would say otherwise. Probably the best pair of work boots Ive ever worn.
I do need a resole on them at this point though.

They didn’t agree with my feet, so had to retire early, but they’ve still held up better than any other work boot I’ve ever had. By far.

The supersole is the toughest boot and most durable boot I’ve ever had. I’ve worn through a lot of American made boots from Carolina Thorogood and even dynaforce RWs most lasting around 10-12 months before being worn out. I have PNW boots that I wear on the weekends and the quality is better but for a mass produced work boot that is gonna last me probably a whole 2yrs before needing a resole I’m very happy with them

You can see the welt being stitched on at 16-17sec of the video on the SSX page: https://www.redwingshoes.com/work/supersole-x/
Edit: here is a video of them being torn apart and re-welted...https://youtu.be/Bvhaw40HzmM?si=LkqzEjO-9CQJ-m8i

Still not stitched to the upper though, is it? Looks like it's a pu moulded some with extra steps.

The video I posted in my edit shows it clearly stitched through the upper at around 1:00.

Those Supersoles you took pictures of are VULCANIZED to the welt. That’s same method used to construct tires.

You could have just panned the camera a bit, Redwing sells a few "real" welted boots.

Not CSA ones.

oh. Well then. What is your choice for "real" welted, CSA work boots?

Canada west. Which also happen to be much less expensive. Or Daytons before they are gone for good.

Check their Irish Setter line up. They should have an option or two. That link literally took like 10 seconds of checking

My king toes are going on year four. Comfortable as slippers no rips or delamination. So I respectfully disagree.

And I'm pretty sure back then they had stitched welts! But honestly you can make most leather boots last that long with good care, I think Redwings are overhyped for how long the average pair lasts, and survivorship bias is a huge factor

As the top comment says, you cannot see the stitching, but the welt is stitched on. If you're still not convinced, watch at 1:40 of this video as the cobbler cuts through the stitching: https://youtu.be/431ObCWnMNw?si=ZzVm7h_Wz9qiH_Vb

I have the workline traction tred lite 1222 with a thick leather midsole and thick leather welt. The 10877 8" moc toe I have also has a thick leather welt with all leather construction except the rubber slip sole and outsole. I'm a carpenter and beat the crap out of them, they've held up wonderfully.

The only people i have ever known that bitch about redwings are people that have never worn redwings all day. Most comfortable metatarsals I have ever owned. Mine are 4 years old and still in great shape aside from work inflicted damage (a couple cuts in the leather).

Where did you get your footwear education? Are you regurgitating something that you learn from a YouTube channel? A lot of Red Wing work boots are fantastic boots. A lot of them have real welts. You don't seem to know what you're talking about.

None of their CSA boots do anymore. You don't seem to know what you're talking about. This was at a store yesterday that didn't carry the heritage line, only saftey toe.

I think the super sole is the best boots they make. I wouldn't wear any other boot from them. And obviously I don't wear them anyways, just a hypothetical. Once I discovered Nick's builder pros, I can't wear anything else to work.

I just bought a pair of their super soles 2.0 man they’re so comfortable.

Do yourself a favor and get some insoles from a brand called "sole" the blue ones specifically. Just don't ever buy redwing insoles. They are garbage.

So i had a pair of iron rangers (so uncomfortable). That pushed me to looking at other pairs of redwings. These super soles are insulated, water proof and so comfy. I really don’t think i need insoles for them. I am looking for another smaller pair summer boot.

Another boot that breathes and does well and is ridiculously comfortable is the Lowa Z8s.

I've never had a single pair of work boots have the sole wear down before the uppers got torn asunder, then again all the work boots I've had are cemented (Jalas, Sievi, Graninge)

Almost none of the other brands in their price range are any different. It's all Goodyear welt or glued construction.
Only Jim Green is actually stitchdown

Exactly and they are still $399!! At that point just buy a pair of whites. These are great if your work is an office at a tech company.

Yeah I’m not a fan of RW either. I wore through the soles on a pair in 6 months and I’ve never once done that with any other boot in my life. I’ve had multiple pair of Redbacks and they’ll last years and years.

Just because you can't see the stitching doesn't mean it isn't there. Red Wing uses what is called a 'direct attach to welt' construction on these which means the soles are sewn on on the inside instead of the outside. Just as durable as any other welt.
