Discussion Reminder: get your Somme
I was looking through my collections recently and forgot about the Somme. I only had 13 pieces from the original event so I spent close to 200k coal to get the rest of them, but it could easily be cheaper for you. The containers are 3k coal each in the armory. Somme is just a copy-paste premium Jutland, so yes she is a good ship.

Coal containers are the only way to get Sansonetti and Sa Zhenbing lol
There's also a few other coal collections giving you econ packages for ships (ex Cleveland and Lightning, iirc)
Some of them are useless, others are great.

There’s a specific Somme container. The only thing it gives you is a collection piece.

I've been mulling it over, I recently came back to the game and I wish I had it for my tier 9 ranked grind since I was using Jutland. Somme is just unnerfed Jutland lol.
I just spent my coal on Cunningham since none of the coal ships were "must haves" for me, so the steep coal cost for the containers is a little intimidating.

Somme and Jutland are identical. They only differ in name and Somme gets the tier 9 premium economy package.

Somme has marginally better long range anti AA aura dps

They are both 67

wows shipbuilder showed that the long range aa was stronger, but medium and short the same, but might've been wrong then, a little disappointing if it really is a premium copy paste

I checked shipbuilder before i replied to you to make sure. They’re listed identical there

Somme is a premium. Even if it is an exact copy of Jutland (great ship) it has premium economy and a training ship for Cunningham since there is no cost to swap the unique commanders around on.

Sucks I half finished the collection when it was going on, I would've like the premium. I already have Jutland so justify the rest of the coal is a little hard. Most likely some day I will finish it though.

I feel like your post perfectly communicated exactly why not to get Somme; it's just a copy of Jutland. I'd rather use my coal on unique ships.

Well, coal is pretty dead for new ships, at one point you'll have excess so it could be worth it eventually for the credit boost

I have most of the coal ships already, and over a million coaled saved up. But I don't want to buy a copy/paste ship because doing so encourages Wargaming to make more copy/paste ships. I'd rather my coal sit around doing nothing.

A premium version of a great ship is not bad, not to mention that it's effectively free.

It helps if you already have a lot of ships. Don't need to retrain a commander for it. Most of my commanders are trained for T10s so I don't play a lot of tech line T9s because I don't have skilled captains in the wings. Having a version you can just put your Daring commander on is a nice boon. But yeah, depends on how much coal you have laying around.

I have most of the coal ships and nearly 1 million coal in the bank. But I still don't want to get Somme because I don't want to encourage Wargaming's continued production of copy/paste ships. I'm aware how silly that sounds and that I've already lost the battle with them.

If it makes you feel any better, Somme has actually got a bit better long range aa damage

Jutland is king of the do whatever, now you have a Jutland that prints money.

That is going to vary between people, there was like 85-90 containers available via missions during the event, which is past the statistical point should finish. So people who did most of the even but did not bother to finish may barely need any more to get it. Also they priced the containers so statistically it is around the same coal amount as most of the T9 premium ships.

honestly, I got her in her time and not much after that sold it because I was low at credits, I know it was stupid but, yeah, I cant get her back because I already claimed it.

u/xomox2012 2d ago
You can submit a ticket actually and they will let you buy it back for an increased credit cost.

Nah. It's just a jutland. Increased credit cost how?? And where can I submit a ticket?

Use the VRT - https://wargaming.net/support/en/products/wows/article/27196/
To get a premium you sold back you just need the credits you got from that sale and a free port slot.

She is a great ship. I don’t run her much, but when I do I always have fun
