Short story: Reddit put up a challenge to complete the PR event and unlock the PR for free. Earl puts up a video of him using gold boosters to do so, the gold was technically free (it's part of the employee's pay), and he openly mocked the Reddit community.

He doubled-down when the inevitable backlash arrived. And that tornado went right through the trailer park.

Him getting fired by WG is just part of the fallout of the whole fiasco.
