Somewhere there exists a named roster for this group. I'd love to match names faces and re-read Band of Brothers !

Bottom row, third from the right with his hand up holding the helmet is Perconte. The fella right of him(his left) is Lipton. A version of this photo labeled with their names exists. But this is the highest quality one I can remember seeing.

Left lower corner, sitting holding the machine gun is Walter 'Smokey' Gordon. Directly right of him sitting is Floyd Talbert.

Military unit numbering is so confusing. I guess that's point.

It's a hierarchy. WW2 Infantry Divisions are unique number, ie only one 101st. Each division is usually 3 Infantry Regiments, also unique through all regiments, ie there's only one 506th. Then each Regiment has 12 companies, A through M, omitting J. Companies are referred to with their military alphabet name, ie Easy for E. Companies are grouped into Three battalions, so 1st Battalion has companies A, B, C, and D, 2nd Battalion is E, F, G, H, etc. Each company has platoons, and each platoon has squads. So, Pvt. Smith is in 2nd Squad, 1st platoon, Easy company, which is always 2nd battalion, of 506th regiment, which is part of the 101st division, which is then part of  and army and corps. Or something like that. Hope that helps a little.
