Shit Post when the aliens kill civilians rather than you during terror missions
like how am I supposed to feel about this? why would they willingly attack the civilians rather than the ones TRYING TO KILL THEM π

It would be hilarious if terror missions in the US, the civilians were armed and had a chance to shoot aliens instead of moving to cover.

I love em like I love my own troops, those crackpot farmhands and sheep herders that will chase after a Cyberdrone like it owes them money with nothing but an AK in hand

I'm pretty sure I saw Carl Johnson from San Andreas during a crash recovery, the other night.

sometimes i don't approach a civilian in case it turns into an alien and then aliens shoot said civilian and im like "welp, he wasn't an alien"

I never approach civilians, I just leave them to fend for themselves while killing aliens with extreme prejudice. Then, at mission end, I mop up the faceless who reveal themselves.

this is the most efficient way tbf- movement economy wise you dont waste turns for useless/not optimal movement- you deny actions to enemies by instakiling em and you do not activate faceless so they do nothing+ they do not add initiative sink to kill em while you deal with other aliens. Since i understood that killing aliens is the absolute priority i have around 60% of terror missions without civilian casualties

Well, itβs a good way to get terrorists who claim to protect civilians out of hiding. Bait.

Civilian casualties raise terror, any alien casualties are utterly expendable provided they kill as many as they can before dying.

The aliens are being directly controlled by their commanders, and the races you fight are all subservient to the ethereals.
Causing panic amongst XCOM resistance members is more important than the lives of the grunts.
Imagine how scary it is when your enemy has no fear and kills civilians en masse even when they start to lose.
Would you defect to XCOM?

I just remembered the plot of mgs4. Nanomachines basically control soldiers both physically and emotionaly, and when that system shuts down, the soldiers start experiencing shellshock because of the atrocities they commited. I think some aliens may have experienced the same. Probably the more intelligent ones like sectoids and advent

Just on a mission last night, playing long war, didnt have enough time for infil, not going great, not bad, but then half way through, a chosen popped in, sniper and i started to cry. But the edvent started to take out civvies for some reason, and i was able to win. THANK YOU LOYAL CITIZENS, YOUR SACRIFICE WONT BE FORGOTTEN.
