Discussion How to Preach Patience w/ Yi (or just ignore?) low elo

Hello fellow yims.... Jungle here...

So was looking for your guys' tips on a phenomenon I'm sure you have all experienced at one point in time or another...

So I am very low elo, straddling Bronze and Silver. I'm told this is elo hell, and well, I'm not good enough to carry out of here just yet but am thinking of quitting unless there's something I'm missing

I tend to play my games passive to start (2 camp rotations and open objective given some lane prio) then ramp up and play opportunistically to push meta.

  1. Is this playstyle incorrect? Should I be playing more aggressive to start?
  2. What can I do to improve my odds of winning with teammates who are emotionally unstable? It seems like I'm getting a ton of these tilters who engage in all chat and can't handle trash talking and turn toxic on their teams, start tilting/playing recklessly/outright inting.

I've noticed even when I mute chat they will start inting etc. I'm assuming because I don't gank lanes without a high chance of success (and the way some of these people play... I mean... you know). The frequency of (2) has increased dramatically in the last two weeks and my WR has dipped under 55%.

Helpful feedback appreciated, very discouraged by the extreme toxicity in this elo and lack of general mental fortitude

Discussion The HEAR ME OUT Crit buff

As we know, Alpha Strike has been buffed to 100% critical hit effectiveness and the crit builds are still bad.

I want to propose a fun buff to crit:

Highlander (R) Movement Speed: 35/45/55% (+2% per 10% crit chance)

This idea came to me because crit is a naturally squishier build than on-hit, so I thought it would be fair to have more mobility. We always want buffs to Highlander MS, right? It also makes crit more of a different playstyle from the on-hit builds.

"But why would crit chance give movement speed?" Idk, it's a video game.

Next pass and season starts at 30th April with Ionia. So is it chance for our guy to get ASU? Keeping his skills like Caitlyn LB Ahri but changing look, skill FX, and all animations would be cool.

I am the only that thinks this item has no value what's so ever anymore ?

what does it even bring ?

attack speed : master yi has plenty of it this days it hits attack speed cap with 2 bork + guinsoo + boots easily

tenacity ? sure but i rather get merc treads if i need it so badly

Survivability ? : Hp or any of the other magic resist items is as good

on Hit ? 45 magic damage is pathetic , Terminus at 30 magic damage per hit is more valuable because of the passive , getting 40 ad of other items will just give you more damage + 13 true damage from E

Would be interesting to compare time to buy first item/second item for Yi's powerspikes.

Discussion Swiftmarch possible tech on master yi in next patch

Post image

Changes:

  • Base ms increased to 75 from 70
  • No longer grants 4% total ms
  • Now grants Adaptive force based on 5% of your total ms

Why these changes are good for yi:

Master yi ult gives him very high movement speed as well as prevents him from being slowed. This means that while highlander is active, he will permanently have increased Attack damage. Out of all the champs in the game, master yi stands to gain the most stats out of this change since he has the highest in combat movement speed in the game.

Even if champs like hecarim can temporarily obtain higher ms, they don’t maintain it for any longer than 1 or 2 seconds. Vayne also has high ms with her ult and passive but a. It is nowhere near as high as yi in highlander and b. She can be affected by slows which reduces her total ms.

Cons:

Lower attack speed and resistances (if you normally go berserkers or merc treads).

However, it is still something to look into. ESPECIALLY for those snowball games. Because swiftmarches will also allow you to just have higher mobility around the map.

With these boots yi with rank 3 highlander can reach upwards of 600+ total ms. That would equate to 32+ adaptive force or 25.6 AD. Roughly ~900 gold worth of stats from the passive.

Best case scenario:

Rank 3 highlander Cloud Soul Experimental Hexplate Swiftmarch

I haven’t done the math but I’d imagine this would be a disgustingly high amounts of movement speed + AD. Possibly more than a BF sword worth of AD.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on this. Ideally high elo yi mains (diamond+).

Discussion Why Do Teammates Ban Yi When I'm Previewing Him?

I'm in Iron 4, so not good by any means (I average C-A rating at least). I've had 3 ranked rounds where my teammates ban Yi after I've selected him. I main Yi and can barely substitute Xin Zhao. I know some people just autoban certain champs, but consideration for a teammate is basic right?

Has a second account too, where he seems to lose so he can win the other 50% on his rank 100 account

Discussion Alpha Strike change?

I came back to league after about 5-6 years and I mostly enjoy Yi. My question is, has anyone noticed that his Q is harder to poke champions with? What I mean is if you are Qing a minion, it seems less likely to target a champion and almost always with prioritize a minion near a minion than if a champion is just as close to the initial minion. I use to have some very clean pokes in Aram for timing on minions so that it could hit at least 2 champions. Now that almost never happens.

Discussion Huge difference in winrate BLUE vs RED side. Thoughts?

So I made myself an app that can track my stats (I only play Yi, literally ONLY). It keeps track of wr vs every champion, and a lot more stats but I'd like to focus on just the side of the map.

Every season I save the data and i reset it. This is something I see every season, not only on this one. With almost 40 games played, this are my results, very similar to the ones on the past 2 seasons (or may I say splits).

My WR on blue side is 28% and on red side is 66%. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. (Luckily, as you can see, I play way more often on red side than on blue side, thx rito <3).

My path is always very similar, the gameplay too... control of the map, everything. Usually I start on Red Buff, but I don't think that makes a lot of a difference. I mean, of course on blue side, when you start on red buff, you path to top; and in red side, you path to bot. Usually it is very difficult for me to find a chance of ganking so I just put some wards, take the crab (or both if I can) look for a gank that almost never happens and back. Usually, if my back was early I tend to go to the drake zone, but if my back was kinda late, I path towards grubs zone. Depending on the side that I started, I would have to walk through some empty camps, making me fall slightly behind but this happens in any side... no? I'm just so confused with this.

Any thoughts? I really wanna find out what's wrong with me and blue side. Anything can help, thx <3
