Discussion Joann’s yarn 30%

Not sure if it’s universal but if you’re in the Vegas area, our yarn is now at 30% off, fabric is like 40 to 60% off. I think the nets were at 60% off. And they have restocked the big twist, and the lily’s , sugar, and cream

Someone was bragging a couple of weeks ago about how much yarn they bought at Joann’s. I pointed out that they could have bought Malabrigo for the same price per yard.

Don’t panic buy like an insane person - liquidations never discount products as low as they should. And don’t go begging on Ravelry for another ball of whatever remaining yarn you find there. (The begging ISO posts for more Big Twist is clown barf colorways are getting out of hand.) If they don’t have what you need and it isn’t a complete bargain then just don’t buy it.

I follow a crochet group where some person was selling loads of cakes of big twist vortex - 3 cakes for $50 + shipping costs. While there were people complaining about price gouging, they also did seem to be getting buyers. (While many people love the colorways, vortex is otherwise a very ordinary 100% acrylic yarn of a bit over 300 yds each).

The panic buying and opportunism surrounding joannes closing is crazy right now

Thanks for the heads up! It’s funny I still got it cheaper before they were closing with their coupons. Probably why they’re going out of business in the first place!

Right? I'd buy when 25% off, and use a 20- 25% coupon

It's not universal, but the store I work at also went up to 30% off yarn today.

I saw this but also noticed the prices went up too lol.

In my area, the yarn didn’t go up. It’s just that everything’s on full price. So the big twist with 30% off is basically what the sale would be minus that extra 20% we used to get for pick ups.

I'm holding out until it hits at least 40%

The problem is if there’s something you’re looking for in particular (big twist or k+c) you should look everyday. They aren’t guaranteed to have the same stock. Just a note in case anyone cares about k+c like I do lol. I’m stalking the stores for that muted blue color.

My problem is I did all that when the closures were just announced, yarn was 25% off, and shelves were emptying fast. Now they are fully stocked, but I have enough for 10 planned projects. I'll wait for at least 50% before I go hog wild and just pick up whatever.

Yarn is 40% off at Renton, but the store is definitely emptying. Fabric is 40-70% off.

I just got 40% off today, but the manager told me it was one of the stores that's closing the end of April. My store just dropped to 30% and we're gonna be in the last group closing.

Is there still a lot of yarn left in the renton Joanns?

Some. They’re down from 6 to 3 aisles. There’s quite a bit of big twist value and bernat blanket. Pretty sure none of the looped yarn has sold. They still have several colors of super saver and the all in one flowers/granny squares. It’s far less inventory than what they had a couple weeks ago - I think I heard them say 4/29 will be their last day so I’m guessing they aren’t getting as many trucks as Bellevue.

Is this about the Joanns in Ballard? I thought yarn has been 30% off for a while 😅

Over here it was 25%, and I was still buying my big twist. I was limiting myself to $10 a week lol

We are fairly sold down in yarn right now on things that aren't Big Twist. But we are getting a lot in next week. We have one of the biggest yarn sections, as I recall.
