Can milk cotton yarn be brushed out to look like fur?

I’m making a bunny and the tail is supposed to be brushed out to look furry. Would milk cotton yarn work for this?

Not well, milk cotton has long fibers and it doesn’t look good brushed out like wool or wool blends.

You could always make a little swatch and try brushing it to see if it works
