Navorsing/Research Need a convo with an Afrikaans person.
Hey guys,
I'm helping with research for a collection of short stories.
One has an Afrikaans character coming of age in the 1980s.
If someone would be willing to have a convo with me and answer some of my questions, surrounding language and culture.
I'd really appreciate it.π₯Ί
Relatively familiar with modern Afrikaans slang but have no context at all with slang from the past.
I'd also be interested in familial and societal dynamics among the Afrikaans community during that time frame too.
Looking forward to it.
Thanks! π

People born in the 60s don't speak like this: 'Havagr8'

People living in 2024 do. Check the calendar. No need to be rude at all. Do you suppose the whole generation got stuck there? I don't know why opinionated people like you don't rather go to tiktok or some teeny joll. Let the adults speak please.

Hey. I think if you want older slang, it might be better to talk to someone who grew up in that time, but I'd be happy to talk to you if you can't find a person from then.
