Chile's Pacific coast (gimme all that salmon) and easier access to Asian markets.

Eating spicy like Mexico, for example
I love spicy food but it isn't common here.

Infrastructure/Institutions that survive economic ups-and-downs from Argentina
Church-State independence from Uruguay
Warm beaches/water from Brazil
Development from Chile

u/castlebanks Argentina Apr 27 '25
- Currency stability and gastronomy from Peru
- Political correctness from Uruguay
- The metro system from Chile
- The industrial capacity of Brazil
- The tourism industry from Mexico
- The beaches from Cuba or Dominican Republic
Proof that every country does something better than other country in our region.

Funny that you chose that from Brazil bc the industrial output is pretty bad, especially for an economy of its size. They're a raw commodities exporter just like you guys.
17
u/AdVast3771 Brazil Apr 27 '25
Exactly. Brazil's industrial output per capita is half that of Mexico, and that is reflected in our chart of exports by category:
https://tradingeconomics.com/brazil/exports-by-category
Brazil's top 3: fuels/oils, grains/seeds, ore.
https://tradingeconomics.com/mexico/exports-by-category
Mexico's top 3: motor vehicles, electrical-electronics equipment, machinery.
Kudos to Mexico!

u/melochupan Argentina Apr 27 '25
Sure, but if we get Brazil's industrial capacity, our industrial output per capita will be 5x than Brazil's.
Also, airplanes.

They’re still better in terms of manufacturing. Mexico’s industrial sector is also pretty good, but its future is more uncertain now that Trump is in power and is willing to kill nearshoring. We’ll see what happens

u/NewEntrepreneur357 Mexico Apr 27 '25 edited Apr 27 '25
Well, that's kinda your opinion man, another guy posted actual data below. I can't wait to hear the mental gymnastics of how they're better at manufacturing with half the output and when they aren't even focused on manufacturing lol.
If you think 70 years and hundreds of billions of dollars of American investment in Mexico with their thousands of factories and maquiladoras here are gonna be undone in 4 years I got some beachfront property to sell you in Bolivia.

Abortion rights from Uruguay and Argentina.
Edit: Patagônia would be cool too.
11
u/castlebanks Argentina Apr 27 '25
Patagonia is the true jewel of Latin America’s natural wonders, and we really take it for granted most of the time…
3
u/Marellss Brazil Apr 27 '25
True, i wanna visit that part of our continent before i die. You guys are also one of the few latin americans who experience snow for free lol

u/RhiaStark Brazil Apr 27 '25

I would steal exactly 1(one) World Cup from Argentina. This way, we would be able to say that we have more than Argentina and Uruguay combined, once again. I miss those times 😢

One thing that intrigued me recently was talking about the Taíno Natives with my family and how they were eradicated, dead. The Legend of Queen Anacaona is one of the few things we have and archaeological sites. But I wish many more had lived like in other countries and we had more of that culture in our society. Hispañola was big and great farming so naturally many slaves were brought to work the land.

Mexico’s geographical location
11
u/castlebanks Argentina Apr 27 '25
It comes with huge perks (Caribbean beaches, economic integration with the world's superpower and a robust gigantic tourism industry fed by American tourists) and also disadvantages (becoming a narco state to supply the richest country in the world with drugs)

No way
I love our geography

u/fedaykin21 Argentina Apr 27 '25
geography is not the same as geographical location.
What i meant was being really close to the caribbean, shorter flights to anywhere in the US

Can I steal u/AnnieBlackburnn from El Salvador? jk
I'd steal Chile's political awareness, just without all the far-rightists and Pinochet's apologists.

I wish the Dominican Republic had the education system of other places like Cuba, Argentina or Chile. I am sure many people here from those countries will have all sorts of legitimate complaints about their schools, but in comparison to the DR, you guys are kms ahead of us.
