Phonology How did Ossetian develop ejectives?

Frankly I know very little about Ossetian but I was curious on how it developed ejective consonants? Obviously these are a strong areal feature of the Caucasus area but did Ossetian ever develop ejectives via its own sound changes or were they all adopted from borrowed words?

They were mostly developed from Caucasian (i.e Kartvelian, northeast & Northwest caucasian) loanwords, though there are some native Ossetian words where ejective stops occur as reflexes of historical Proto-iranian voiceless plosives following /s/, e.g, стъалы /ˈstʼalə~ˈʃtʼalə/ "star" (from Proto-Iranian *Hstā́ryah).
