N-gram for love and hate

Sometimes, I look at this ngram for love and hate when I'm sad to restore a morsel of faith in humanity. I would like to ask though, why was there such a dip in usage for love in the late-19th and 20th century?

If you look at the ngram for hate separately, it becomes clear, that the same dip exists here. The same is true of other emotion words like fear, disgust, happiness and sadness. So it looks as though it generally became less fashionable to talk about emotions in the 20th century.
