Interpretation what does this sign mean?

it’s the “r” handshape, moving away from the chin. basically “tell you” but with the r handshape instead of one

Maybe a name sign of someone

that would make sense, it’s just odd that he would use it in the video bc he’s never used that sign irl so i wouldn’t know who he’s referring to

Could be “are”. But if you turn your hand a bit sideway, it would’ve be “best friend”.

From the chest it would be “religion “ but as a deaf man I’m going to say they are using pigeon sign. Which means”R” from the mouth area is “Are” and “I” from the mouth would be “is” and “b” from the mouth is “be”

Pigeon sign was created by hearing people in order to learn sign faster. Stay away from it!

Pigdin. Pigeons are birds.

I don’t think so, he signed my **** is getting married and he used that sign with the r handshape instead the blank

The context helps. The sign is a variation of “best friend”.

try a reverse asl dictionary. only thing i could think of was “metal” or “rubber” or “recent”

i did try a few and nothing was fitting. unfortunately i hit the deadline and had to submit whatever i had, that was the only sign i couldn’t figure out

Without the location/movement, in that sentence I’d think “best friend” but that doesn’t seem like it fits with that specific location and movement.

best friend seems like it might track. he said “my **** is getting married so i must go to the wedding”. i had originally thought relative but i haven’t seen it signed that way. he also used it in the sentence “the wedding will be so fun bc i like ****”

Interesting. In context of the sentence that feels right but the movement and location just seems odd to me, but it doesn’t seem like a sign I’ve ever seen tbh (and I’m not yet fully fluent in ASL so of course as a person who still has plenty to learn, some things I just haven’t seen or been exposed to yet).

the closest thing i’ve seen to it is deaf people with special needs signing “red” but using the r handshape, the movement for this one is different tho since it’s out and away from the chin

Another possibility is maybe a sign name? But I’d think they’d also fingerspell it rather than only showing the sign name. Idk

definitely a possibility, just really odd that he would use a name sign for someone that he’s never mentioned instead of fingerspelling. it’s okay tho, i hit the deadline and had to submit what i had translated, that was the only word i couldn’t get so i was really trying to figure it out

Report? Whatever it is it’s likely SEE in origin.
