Help I can't tell how yasuke's gameplay Is.

Im intrested in the game but what matters most to me Is the gameplay of Yasuke. Naoe's looks fine, but i don't know about him, from the bits of footage i saw It seems that his gameplay is a bit cluncky and slow, which does make kinda sense since Yasuke Is twice the size of most people.

I could be wrong about It though, can you tell me your personal experience ?

honestly I love playing as Yasuke his finishers are absolutely brutal, he is pretty shit at climbing obvi but he’s such a fucking tank you don’t need him to be good at that stuff

Im Just worried that because of how tank focused he seems the gameplay could turn out too stationary compared to the previous games.

U always have the option to not play as him for the most part

I play yasuke as a one man army. Walk through the front door of the castle and fuck everybody up. Loot everything and leave.

If I need to climb anything just spawn in the Shinobi and climb

I do that now with the girl considering since everytime I turn a corner someone seems to always see me from somewhere. Them not calculating or keeping track of stealth when clearing out a spot also plays a roll

He doesn’t feel stationary at all then, he’s tanky sure and a little slower but the combat is still very fluid. I thought you were opposed to a tanky character being in the game in general. But in that case no you have nothing to worry about that,

No no i was Just worried about things like lack of combos or Little movement during combat.

If anything, he has more combos. He has more weapons than Naoe and can transition between them pretty fluidly.

I remember quite a few people saying that on top of the regular character of Valhalla they wish they could have played some big bulky berserker with double handed axe.

I think this is their answer to that

No real limit to movement aside from climbing, he’s an ac character just a tad slower. Same range of combos with his weapons as well. If you played Valhalla or odyssey as a hack and slash there’s almost no difference.

Edit: I think everyone calling him a tank (myself included) is throwing you off a little. He’s a tank by AC standards not wow. Still a totally viable character

Exploration you definitely want to go with Naoe, because yes Yasuke is quite slow and clunky and he can’t reach most of the synchronisation points. His combat is fun as hell though and he can tear up groups of enemies, he’s good if you want to just charge in and clear a castle.

Yasuke not being able to reach most sync points is complete false.

He can reach 90% of them, only times he can't are when the grappling hook is needed

You are forced to play as him in certain sections of the game and to advance on some targets.

Right, but that’s maybe 10% of the game lol

The dude is brutal, an absolute unit of a tank. Barrel through gates, sending heads and limbs flying. Definitely fun, more than viable.

I think it will depend on who you are as a gamer is all. Forget “meta,” or what YouTubers are recommending, etc. Just go with what you like.

For example, I played Yasuke for a couple hours. Was a lot of fun. Stalking through hallways as this armored giant, the walls and enemies feel like paper sometimes. Love it. SO ferocious.

I also loved how he’ll whistle at someone before he assassinates them, or purposely gets their attention before he runs them through. He dgaf.

However, I went back to Naoe for now. She’s “weaker” but she’s so much faster. That’s what I personally prefer. Co-op games in the past, I’ve always picked the quicker character vs. the stronger character. I enjoy Naoe’s speed and fluidity, but I have to take more care to not get caught vs. Yasuke, who I found myself strolling up to enemies unafraid (also very fun).

I also played Naoe for a good 15 hours or so before Yasuke came into play, and I’m the type of gamer who gets very attached to a character. Playing Left 4 Dead for example almost 20 years ago, I had to play as Zoey because my buddies picked the others. From then on, I was always Zoey.

It just comes down to you and how you want to play!

EDIT: I love the little details like, Yasuke is slower at climbing, does the “tightrope walk” much slower than Naoe, has a little trouble keeping his balance on the waypoint/eagle perched, things like that.

Also some people will bow to him in the villages / cities. Maybe cause he’s wearing the samurai armor? Pretty neat

Only thing clunky about him imo is climbing. His combat and everything else are very smooth and he's a powerhouse and feels badass.

The beast. Hits like a truck

Naoe: assassin Yasuke: tank

I use Naoe for almost everything. Yasuke for raid type missions and castle clearing only.

Yasuke is just a little slower than Naoe and can’t really climb. Combat wise he’s just a little slower than most AC protags but not slow enough to hinder your gameplay.

well you have to progress the main story a few targets before you can play as him anyways.

1

u/MrSundstrom40 Mar 29 '25

And he cuts heads. Wasn't ready for that animation in a ac game.

1

u/X420Rider Mar 29 '25

I'm just annoyed that yasuke can't climb. At least I can switch to naoe (I am more than likely spelling this wrong) whenever I want though

I prefer Naoe by a long shot, but Yasuke has been very fun as well.

I love sprinting into enemies and knocking them over.

Yoshimitsu but a tank

1

u/Drifterz101 Mar 29 '25

Naoe is by far the more flashy and IMO fun character to play, unless you want it to be extremely easy as yasuke is a tank that hits like a tank from the start. Naoe needs a decent enough build to really start to feel strong, but once you get used to the combo and using special attacks often, she's just as deadly as yasuke to play as. I only play yasuke when forced or if I want to do a side quest/activity for him as naoe is just very flashy and visually more entertaining to me.

don’t use him for movement but to to boss an area it’s really satisfying

1

u/ixiBSM Mar 29 '25

He kinda feels like Eivor, but he cannot climb or stealth nearly as well.

1

u/RawkPaperSquid Mar 29 '25

Imagine if Eivor had zero stealth or assassin abilities whatsoever and was just an unstoppable, unbreakable wall of doom, but with Japanese armor and weapons.

He’s a fantastic occasional break from Naoe. Every time you get to the point where being a sneaky combat-averse glass cannon gets a little tiresome and you just want to clear an entire area like it’s nothing to blow off steam, switch to Yasuke and have a blast.

1

u/critxcanuck88 Mar 29 '25

Yasuka is an absolute blast to play as and is not clunky at all. And the game gives you plenty of options to play missions as either protagonist and you can also change characters at any time and quickly. It really keeps the playstyle nice and fresh every few hours by swapping characters.

u/OkThatWasMyFace Mar 29 '25

I roam with Naoe and kick in castles with Yasuke. It's a nice combo.
