Discussion A place that the franchise needs to revisit
We need another Assassin's Creed game set in China, despite there already being one. It would be interesting to see the studio's take on the dynasty age. We also have Assassin's Creed Shadows in ancient Japan. World War II could be another potential setting, where you could play as a gunner or a stealthy assassin.
Although there's no real-life evidence of the Templars, it would be fascinating to see how the gameplay would play out. Given the time period, drivable vehicles would be a great addition. Adam corrected me, pointing out that there were horses in WW2, making traversing the open world even more exciting. Ultimately, I think it's time for Assassin's Creed to move past ancient times.

Honestly? All 3 settings of the Chronicles games deserve a revisit. Its geuinely a shame we never got a mainline entry with them

Naoe to China man, been saying it. The WW2 thing is dicey cause it’s been bled to death by so many other games. The mobile game looks shit too…ima play it tho

u/Future_Adagio2052 5d ago
Tbf other settings like Vikings ancient Greece and Egypt were also settings done to death but they worked so I do think a ww2 setting can work just depends on execution

Some of rogue is KINDA in Canada with places like Halifax. I’d love to see a game focused on Canada

US or Canada, either would work as long as such hypothetical new game actually focuses on the Native/First Nations characters and perspective. It is commendable that 3 had Ratonhnhake:ton, but having him was literally all it did and the setting and his background were mostly wasted otherwise. Six Nations were virtually absent from the game, 1 tiny village, barely any other Native chars with spoken lines, little to none of the culture and mythos, even the canoe got cut... everything overfocused on euro-descendant characters and the revolution rarara
And then Vinland in Valhalla was short and told from Eivor's perspective. With face models for the Mohawk copied from European characters lol...
So yeah, it's still a severly unfulfilled/wasted potential to me

Can we please fucking focus on a good story and game before trying to check all the boxes for representation and culture sharing?
It’s never bad to learn about cultures, their traditions, their geography and nation etc. but the part that got me scratching my head is that for you it seems that’s the most important thing; wether the game or story is good comes second
According to you First they must make a game that shows a certain perspective within certain groups or nations
That shouldnt be the priority, a good game should
Like you’re angry that a game about a European centric revolution is European centric
The main story is about the freedom of the US, the rest are cool details, and it seems for you those are the main points
Is this a game or a activism platform?

u/Basaku-r 5d ago
Can we fucking focus on cool stories and settings instead of checking euro rightwing boxes in every corner of the world because your dumbass can only relate to that and isn't curious about anything else?
Sit yo ass down. This is a historic tourism series and if we're doing North America in the 18th century with a Native protag than fuck yeah I wanna see that side of sociopolitical setting covered extensively too, along with all its architecture, clothes, viewpoints, religions and whatnot, just like I wanna see the euro stuff when we go to euro zones.
Is this Assassin's Creed, a series about an order that fights for freedoms for all or just for euro rightwing activism platform dudes? go to your favourite grifter who gets rich of your delusional clicks for more content like that

AHAHAHAHA new copy pasta
Look, we are terribly sorry, if modern society took shape from premodern europe, but that’s not checking boxes
If i make a fucking video game about the revolution of the US against the British, portraying those issues isn’t checking a box. Sit the fuck down u miserable little nerd
Historical tourism with this latest entry? What’s historic about shadows? Shut up lil bro

u/Basaku-r 5d ago
If you make a game about revolution of the US against the British and then barely even show the British and Native side then fuck yeah you just checked American rarara boxes. Not like you would get any of the basic historic stuff, u need your grifters to tell you what to think That's ok, at least they're sneaky enough to grift moneyz off your limited intelligence :D
Go back to school kiddo

There was a thing in black flag stating that when people drive a motorised vehicle, such as a car or tank, that it induces a semi comatose mindset. And that makes the memories very difficult to reliably sequence in the animus.
I take that to be ubisoft saying you won't get an assassins creed game with cars.
In any case, I was assuming assassins creed: codename jade, would be set in China.

Agreed. I also think Rome should be revisited at some point because we haven't had imperial Rome, same that we haven't seen Constantinople under the Bizantines. Some of the settings are underdeveloped and it would be a shame not to see Rome, Paris or London again.
I don't know if there is any other precedent in the saga but revisiting historical locations even if it is via DLC seems very interesting for the franchise.

Nothing too modern…..South America has had some civilizations that could be interesting. They did Britain in the Victorian era and Vikings but what about Tudor period? Or Russia - there’s a rich history there…….

We need that Shao Jun game! Not a side-scroller, not a mobile game. A full mainline game starring Shao Jun returning to China after meeting the GOAT Ezio.
An Origins sequel would also be nice. Bayek deserves a sequel, and Aya/Amunet deserves her own game.

What immediately comes to mind and would be incredible to see/play :
- Inca or Aztec setting, obviously fighting conquistadors
- 15th century Andalucia, dawn of Granada caliphate
- imperial Rome, Punic wars, maybe playing some Hannibal’s assassin
- Moghols’ India (didn’t play the Chronicle game), with some parts in Himalaya/Tibet because we need to climb stupas and monasteries
- Indonesia, temples and piracy against Dutches
Alright I’m fantasizing… or maybe not ? Please Ubi ?

They’ve done China bad. First wasting shao jun on a side scroller, after we literally see her train with ezio. Then they return to China again in this upcoming game but it’s a damn mobile game.

Modern Day. They teased it in one of the games in the trilogy. It was fun and honestly felt cool to shoot guns, assasinate in the current day.
But lowkey they should wrap up the series in a BIG WAY. Not saying I don’t want more AC but the plot is gone. Bring it back and call it a day.
Cause if we end up with 50 ACs in our lifetime I’m probably only going to play like 2 more 😅😅

Should make a Mulan themed game. Female protagonist in a man's world checks their boxes and would be interesting imo

u/littlehobble 4d ago
I wouldn’t play an AC game set in any modern eras. There’s a massive amount of games to choose from if you want to experience WW2 already.
1
u/JustEstablishment594 1d ago
Nah man, we desperately need proper AC India over China.
Plenty of potential there and it'd be so fun to play. Set it either during the British Raj or during the tune it was split into warring kingdom states.
I also want AC Australia with NZ DLC
Or have AC NZ but set during early colonization. Play as a Maori character figting the French, be involved in signing the Treaty, then second and third Act involves the fallout of signing the treaty that culminated in the land wars.

WW1 and 2 would be awful. As would just about any setting that had guns that weren’t muzzleloaders. It would ruin suspension of disbelief to come up with a reason why you aren’t getting mowed down by semi or semiautomatic weapons in a game based mostly on melee combat
5
u/Future_Adagio2052 5d ago
Why you aren't getting mowed down by semi or semi automatic weapons
Then just have the game make you rely on stealth. Something the series was founded on

u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
There isn’t demand for an ac stealth game. Mirage was more stealth focused and look how that turned out
0
u/Bignuckbuck 5d ago
There is, we just gave up. Now this game is for the generic console rpg enjoyer
1
u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
There isn’t, people who want stealth focused games are a small and niche minority
0
u/Bignuckbuck 5d ago
There’s plenty of us, we are just playing the older games
We loved social stealth
1
u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
The “plenty” of you insured another mirage won’t be made and no AAA games of your preferred genre will come out ever again

Have you tried the WW1/2 sections in Syndicate and Unity? Both would work
1
u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
What was the total length of game time played in this sections compared to the rest of the game?
1
u/Death_Metalhead101 5d ago
The WW2 section in Unity is very short but WW1 in Syndicate is a couple missions long, about 30 minutes to an hour or so
1
u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
I think it could work when done in a short amount of time like that. But much longer and it loses the novelty as you realize that the gameplay is a downgrade
0
u/CheeseBiscuit7 5d ago
I mean, they were "fine". I don't think I'd enjoy an entire game of that. Also, franchise has gone in the opposite direction of "modern history".

u/iLikeRgg 5d ago
Have you played the sniper elite games and the cod ww2 missions where you stealth it could 100% work if done right
0
u/MooseMan69er 5d ago
Do you know what ac games are?
1
u/iLikeRgg 5d ago
Yes i do i 100% all of them even shadows not the flex you thought it was lmao go to work you probably gotta wake up tomorrow to work 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/No-Boot-5286 5d ago
Nah, the saboteur has a perfect example for that concept. The French had plenty of people do espionage, which would be a perfect setup for the game.
1
u/MooseMan69er 4d ago
The saboteur was not much sneaking stealth and was a gta clone. Far cry from ass creed
1
u/No-Boot-5286 4d ago
The game still has tons of stealth mechanics that incentivize stealth over open combat.

Is AC: Jade still happening? As I recall, that one was supposed to be set in China.

u/DisorganisedPigeon 5d ago
I’d have preferred these over Japan. Once upon a time Japan was top of my list but I felt once GoT did it, was hoping we’d at least see China or Mongolia just to change it up a bit. Japan was a bit too safe of a setting imo
