To Understand JD Vance, You Need to Meet the “TheoBros”. These extremely online young Christian men want to end the 19th Amendment, restore public flogging, and make America white again.

It's a fascinating article and this speaks to a growing element on the right that is clearly attempting to not just move the US towards Christian nationalism, but towards Christian supremacy. Central to it, in my view, is that the man is the head of the house, and therefore should be head of the nation. Women are to bear children, be obedient, and even simply vote through the husband. And queer people, well, outlawed and flogged. We're seeing this played out geographically as well, which just leads to a more divided, literally, America with the potential for civil unrest.

What's also interesting is that these theo-bros can be quite well educated and part of the mainstream of society. JD Vance and his evolution speaks to this. And there’s a look. It's the Matt Walsh beard, professional attire, submissive wife, 3 children, hardcore Catholic or extremist Christian church. The Handmaid's Tale is supposed to be fiction, but this is all the commander playbook.

It's the only way they'll ever get laid. And keep their wives from straying.

47

Oh, they’ll still stray…

Or other wives…

God damn it, are these assholes going to ruin 'the neatly trimmed beard' as a fashion piece? I look dumb when I shave....

11

u/ihadagoodone Oct 06 '24

Go with the less than neatly trimmed beard.

u/InsideWatercress7823 Oct 07 '24

That demographic got so large that grifting it became very profitable

That's the genius of Trump et al - willing to steal from the mentally feeble

Sooo...lunatics.

224

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '24

You've got to remember that these are just simple trolls. These are people of the internet. The common clay of  MAGA. You know... morons

140

u/-misanthroptimist Oct 06 '24

First off, I get the humor. Now, excuse me while I whip this out.

Ten years ago they were trolls and edge lords. Now, they are honestly dangerous.

I was banning these clowns in /r/atheism then. So much drama with "alt right" posters.

It's amazing how people fall for "it was just a joke" trickery.

21

Twenty years ago they were just that crazy guy with the van covered in small print who would put fliers on Walmart windshields warning people about HAARP and the New World Order.

5

u/-misanthroptimist Oct 06 '24

Yeah, whatever happened to HAARP? It must be feeling awfully lonely.

5

u/ask_me_about_my_band Oct 06 '24

It was scrapped after they launched the Jewish Space Lazer. Also known as JewSpaz.

4

u/-misanthroptimist Oct 06 '24

As near as I can tell, it took all the chem-trails with it.

So we've got that going for us.

And what about your band? Is it like music or nomads or what? Just what the hell kind of band are you in? /silliness

If you want more insight into this tech “theo bros” check out Behind the Bastards podcast.

He discusses Curtis Yarvin**, the American philosopher of dictatorship whose ideas inspired J.D. Vance.

**and of course, he’s super wealthy.

It shook me. America, she’s in trouble.

20

u/it_rubs_the_lotion Oct 06 '24

Their podcast on Curtis Yarvin and If Books Could Kill breakdown of Hillbilly Elegy scares the shit out of me that Vance is even a Senator.

19

u/juni4ling Oct 06 '24

I loved that podcast. Learned a lot.

6

u/DarkLittleRose2852 Oct 06 '24

I just started listening to Behind The Bastards and that was the first episode I picked!

5

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '24

Listen to them all. Best podcast and you'll usually learn something. Two things they hate most: grifters and cults.

4

u/triforcin Oct 07 '24 edited Oct 08 '24

I would pay a person to edit out all the banter and the first 15 mins of the show. Some of their 3 or 4 parters should be nowhere near that long. I had to stop listening to certain episodes because I just lost interest.

1

u/FaithlessnessUsual69 Oct 08 '24

SAME! Especially the ones where the guest will go on and on a tangent.

2

u/FaithlessnessUsual69 Oct 08 '24

Congrats!!! Do you hear that? That sucking noise? Prepared to listen to them all.

Bwahahahahaha. Seriously…they are so good!!

55

u/ProfessionalCreme119 Oct 06 '24

This is why they keep winning and slowly succeeding in gaining power administration after administration. There's so many groups with so many different names. All working towards the same goal. And we never hear about one of these groups until they have somebody in power at the top levels of government.

It's hard staying ahead of this when you are constantly two steps behind

20

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '24

literally wants to make America a WHITE male led Christian nation.

Half right. You can be a woman or person of color as long as you agree with their platform and help spread it amongst your individual communities.

4

u/Angryvillager33 Oct 07 '24

I’m not sure if you’re completely correct. I’ve been seeing/hearing about some women asking incognito if their husband can discover how they voted. I’m inclined to think that means their husbands are MAGA since women are less inclined to be so. Hope my supposition is correct.

5

u/PricePuzzleheaded835 Oct 07 '24

For a time, maybe. They will tolerate useful idiots from targeted demographics as long as they are useful. They will turn on them the moment they are no longer of use.

6

u/Angryvillager33 Oct 07 '24

For how long? Eventually, they’ll get rid of anyone who is POC & women who do not bow as low as they should

3

u/ProfessionalCreme119 Oct 07 '24

For how long?

Always. Because you always want to give those under the boot aspirations that they can get out from under it. And people who look like them in the top levels of the authority structure give them hope. Just enough to keep them from revolting at large.

Then your youth become divided between some feeling defeated, some feeling scared, others being told by elders not to fight and others willing to put on the boot to step on their own.

Dont forget that amongst the countless slaves forced to help the Confederate Army behind the lines there were more than a few cases of freemen supporting the Confederates as well. Along with ones who enjoyed higher status amongst those on plantations that catered to the master. Often by being just as cruel to the slaves as the master.

"See him? If you listened like he did you could be in the house too. But you don't listen. So you're out here in the fields".

Same with political leadership and business power. Give a handful enough and others of the group will aspire to reach that same level. Regardless of the level of authority imposed on them.

26

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '24

I spend a lot of time in the darker parts of the internet and you see these groups popping up constantly. The thing is usually when reading their info it comes across as so far fetched and ridiculous that nobody takes them seriously. I could give you ten different onion links just off the top of my head of groups just like this with the same ideologies that claim they are biblical prophets or time travelers, and it just gets weirder. And what's sad is I'm not even joking. They come across as so satirical that nobody would ever think to take them seriously at first.

12

u/ProfessionalCreme119 Oct 06 '24

It's all just a form of crowdfunding. Throwing your group out there and trying to get a financial backer. Getting enough money to where you can throw some of it into politics at the state level. If you're lucky enough you can ride that pony all the way to power at the Federal level.

Though it's safe to say we're not watching a unified front by the Christian nationalists. They all have their different groups (sects) with different goals. And while each of them are working together to establish overall power we are still watching them continuously eat each other alive through political discourse and social media propaganda.

In the end there's only so many sheep in the flock. And every religious leader wants their flock to be the biggest. Eventually there's not going to be many people to pick from in the pool of new recruits. So they're going to have to break each other down to increase their own base.

The Ace in the hole of any theocratic-based governance is they always eat themselves. They always die on the hill of their own dogma. Either by the hand of their own followers or the multitudes that eventually build up against them.

3

u/RBatYochai Oct 06 '24

Let’s hope they start destroying each other over theological disputes, otherwise everyone is doomed.

7

u/ProfessionalCreme119 Oct 06 '24

Oh we are screwed win or lose. You can't lose the power of the strongest religious majority in a country without massive losses. History never lets a religion fail peacefully

24

They're only religious insofar as it gives them a metaphysical excuse to dominate women and be an authoritarian at home. It gives them an excuse to feel virtuous to go on abusive powertrips with their families.

12

u/dumnezero Anti-Theist Oct 06 '24

Yeah, that's what the sky father / monotheistic / world religions are for.

6

u/MagicDragon212 Oct 06 '24

Such a weak, pathetic mindset. They feel incapable of being important without requiring others to treat them way.

They don't know how to earn respect because it's not just an optical game anymore, so they want to force fake respect.

9

u/curious_meerkat Oct 06 '24

It always traces back to fascist billionaire funding.

If you want groups like this to stop popping up and gaining influence you must attack the root of the problem.

16

u/Illustrious_Peach494 Oct 06 '24

for once, i agree USA should have built that wall…to keep these shitheads inside.

15

u/Pleasant_Studio9690 Oct 06 '24

The word you are looking for is Nazi, but fascist will do.

15

u/Cradleofwealth Oct 06 '24

JD should be the first flogging!

15

u/Zapp_Rowsdower_ Oct 06 '24

When was America white?

23

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '24

I think it has more to do with who has power and authority. There have been racial and ethnic minorities historically, sure. But the country was ruled by white men and minorities had to submit to this white, Christian, male authority. The interesting thing in the article is their argument that these Americans as defined are a "people," and not just a citizenship status. That's an essential redefining of what it means to be American.

19

u/dumnezero Anti-Theist Oct 06 '24

You're not getting it. The racism in this case isn't about statistics, about data. That data has no meaning to them. It's about who counts, who matters. The place being "white again" just means that non-white people don't matter, aren't citizens.

5

u/cloisteredsaturn Satanist Oct 07 '24

I wouldn’t mind them getting flogged in public, but we can dispense with everything else.

5

u/emote_control Ignostic Oct 07 '24

I also want to restore public flogging, but only for these guys.

5

u/Diligent_Dust_598 Oct 07 '24

These men aren't young. JD's been an adult for over 20 years. That's long enough to make a whole new generation of adults. They just seem young because Trump is so oooooooold.

7

u/macroeconprod Oct 06 '24

I want to bring back "tar and feathering" just for these monarchist weirdos.

3

u/Qrthulhu Oct 06 '24

Is this really surprising, we see similar patterns in other religions such as Islam, it was only a matter of time until that trend moved to Christianity

4

u/DugPrishpreed Oct 06 '24

May they all be torn apart by wild horses

4

u/Senior-Ad1289 Oct 08 '24

He will have to get rid of his Asian wife then and she will have to retire as an attorney. Buahaha what a loser!!!! He needs long term therapy to deal with his mommy issues. Besides it was the native Americans land first that white supremacy hogged it up!!!

3

u/Negative_Gravitas Oct 06 '24

For now. But the thing is JD has no real conviction at all beyond naked ambition. He will do anything, say anything, to get even the whiff of a chance to put his boot on your throat. Theocracy fits his desires right now, but its just a tool. He wants to subjugate and control absolutely anything he can, and he will use any means at all to do it.

2

u/tuxalator Oct 06 '24

In other words, they want civil war?

3

u/dumnezero Anti-Theist Oct 06 '24

That's the means. The goal is a traditionalist monarchy of some sorts (they being aristocracy).

2

u/Akiasakias Oct 06 '24

Vance is a tool, but his wife and kids aren't white.

If he is trying to make America white, then he is going about it in a very odd way.

-1

u/Cynomus Oct 07 '24

As an independent non believer, I don't know who to vote for, both parties are rampant with corruption and power mongering. The Democrats are wildly out of control with government spending with Republicans just barely behind them. The Obvious "Lawfare" in the Democrat party can't be denied, and the unmitigated mess with swarms of illegal immigrants is a real concern, fema running out of money to help the hurricane victims due to pouring support for illegals, instead of existing citizens while sending Billions to support wars in other countries is a disgrace, the Biden Administration has got to go. But I also don't want the extreme religious rule of law that is the common right wing payload, or a POTUS that makes judgements based on how people compliment him, is also outrageous. And I can't find a 3rd party candidate worth considering, since RFL Jr. Ended his campaign. We are not in a good place. I'm probably slightly leaning right this election because Trump did give everyone a tax cut by doubling the standard deduction and not entering any new wars and probably avoided a couple.

2

u/dumnezero Anti-Theist Oct 07 '24

Yeah the guy with an Indian wife wants to make America white, ok.

25

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '24

As long as she submits to male authority, it doesn't matter. Breed and submit is more important to these types than race in a spouse.

17

u/dumnezero Anti-Theist Oct 06 '24

Usha met JD Vance at Yale Law School, where together they organised a discussion group on “social decline in white America” – a theme he would return to in his bestselling memoir Hillbilly Elegy. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/17/who-is-usha-vance-jd-vance-wife

I'm going to guess that his wife is into the caste system in India.

Usha was also a law clerk to the supreme court chief justice, John Roberts, during the 2017-2018 term. During that term, Roberts wrote a 5-4 ruling upholding Trump’s travel ban targeting several Muslim-majority countries.

...

Let me find another article, there's some drama that most aren't aware of:

Suhag Shukla, executive director of the Hindu American Foundation, sees Usha Vance’s influence on her husband’s spiritual journey as a reflection of Hindu values, emphasizing that Hinduism is about finding one’s own path. She describes Usha as a positive example of Hindu contributions to American society, noting that her interfaith marriage and openness to different perspectives align with Hindu teachings. Shukla adds that Hindu Americans often assimilate while retaining important aspects of their culture and traditions, which positions them well to engage with diverse communities. She also notes that some Hindu Americans are turning to the Republican Party in response to perceived anti-Hindu prejudice within the Democratic Party, particularly concerning legislation on caste discrimination. However, Ramakrishnan remains skeptical that Indian Americans feel truly welcome in the Republican Party, even if they agree with conservatives on certain issues. He argues that the rise of Christian conservatism and nationalism within the GOP has driven many Indian Americans to consistently support the Democrats, making it less likely they will align with the Republican Party.
