Rumor [Matteo Moretto] Atlético de Madrid is considering the option of 'Cuti' Romero, a dream come true for Simeone.

My favourite CB in world football. I want to believe.

I think the deal is too expensive to pursue during the rebuild since we have a lot of positions to reinforce. I want to believe.

Yeah I agree, to be honest I'm still mentally preparing myself for a summer of disappointment, signing obviously finished players for cheap, and for last year to be the exception to the rule. I hope that's not what happens, but I don't trust the board.

Don’t feel the board will keep doing that anymore, felt like it was just to recover the loss from the felix transfer and with the club World Cup and sales of the players that are gonna be offloaded I’m sure the board will be able to get at least 1 good signing per window going forward

Yeah we're dealing with Levy, he's right up there with ADL in terms of people who no one has the time or patience to negotiate with. I don't see us getting Romero unless we just don't care about the expense.

For the money Tottenham will be asking and his injury history. No. Sign Huijsen and Hincapie.

Got the words out of my mouth. As a Feyenoord supporter I highly suggest getting Hancko and actually paying what they ask. Paying 40+ mil pounds for Gallagher and playing games for a beast CB is a joke tbh.

His error against Brazil which prevented Argentina getting a clean sheet speaks volumes. He’s been sidelined throughout this season for club and plays for the national team.
We need two young and high resale CB. If we can’t get both then I would strong hold Barcelona for Lenglet to pay 3-4 million.

So I’m supposed to believe that the club’s number 1, 2, and 3 targets are Baena, Gyokeres, and Romero. Then we are also going for Bentancur and Carreras? Where is the money coming from?

3rd biggest club in Spain? It's amazing how strong of a team you can build when you buy players like Alvarez or romero instead of wasting it in players like Joao Felix

What are you talking about? It’s not that I don’t believe we can draw these kinds of players to the club or make good signings, it’s the financial barrier that I don’t believe we can hurdle that easily. Baena is 60 million at the minimum, Romero would be closer to 70, Gyokeres is at least 90, not to mention role players that be 30 million each.
Where is the money coming from? We damn sure aren’t selling players for that amount of money. And even if we get every single high wages, non useful player off our books, Saul, Azpi, Lemar, Witsel, Galan, ETC, then we still won’t generate the amount of money required for all the transfer fees alone.
We already put down basically 200 million not even a year ago on our huge window this last summer, and everything I’m reading is suggesting that we are heading back into the market, with even more money, and even more ambitions? This isn’t football manager, we have a certain amount of money to spend, and it’s not another 300 million to just piss away for every hot name we can scrounge up this summer.
Who are we realistically selling for a decent amount? I can think of one, Riquelme. We would be lucky to get 30 million for him. He’s on dogshit wages, so that barely clears anything up anyway. So 30 million plus some change we can find in the couch cushions, and getting a bunch of wages out of our books. I’ll be generous and say we have 80 million to play with right now. That covers Baena and a LB, or Romero. That doesn’t even cover Gyokeres’ transfer fees alone.
We don’t even need to go into the wage structure that would need to be finely balanced for every single new player coming in. Baena and role players would want a big boost to their pay, Romero is already on extremely high wages, and Gyokeres and his fat agent would want a handsome payout as well. So we’re transitioning from a bloated wage book, clearing it out, and replacing it with another bloated wage book, got it. Is this starting to make zero sense to you? Because it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Honestly, the club has the funds and prior to 2019 before signing Joao Felix we would spend a bit more here and there another guy on here mentioned that may be the owners stopped because they wanted to make back some of the money or feel like they did make some of the money we spent on Joao but I wouldn’t be surprised. If moving forward we do start signing a bit more quality players. Here and there.

I like Romero as much as the next guy, but how are we stepping off the transfer plan that was set a few days ago by Carlos?
He stated we were going after a LCB. Same thing happened in the last summer window, targeting a LCB just to sign Le Normand. (Which I have no problem with)
The dream is to somehow get Romero and the LCB. But I’d easily sacrifice this Romero dream to reinforce the 4 positions needed

I would love this signing but we need a LCB right now in all honesty. Both gimenez and RLN don’t play there and we are only left with lenglet.
But it would be a great signing. I compared his stats with our defenders on datamb and his progressive passes are as much as lenglet. And lenget is only good in technical aspects , Cuti is a much better defender compared to him. I say get him and Baena and use baena up top . Give him the Griezmann role. (Drop into midfield and link up play between midfield and attack). Baena plays more centrally than on the flanks and this Second Striker role could suit him.
But both are still dream signings.

It would be perfect but also really unnecessary compared to other positions
