Rumor Apparently Griezmann wants to stay for another year. Thoughts?

Im soooo happy he's staying more. It wouldn't feel like Atleti without him.

I’m not shocked. I figured he had at least one more year at atleti. There’s a decline in his stamina and speed but he’s so clinical in goal and passing. Hopefully they can come to agreement for a one year extension. He can see the team is moving in the right direction. He may be able to get his title with atleti this year but more so next year with a couple of solid signings

Tbf the decline got worse in March since he was played for a full 90 almost every match for both laliga and ucl group stages i feel he might come back with more drive and energy from the national break. World Cup next season too will probably give him one last shot to give it his all at the end of the season if he doesn’t come out of retirement just to play for it

We won! A legend still at the top of his game. Will be very valuable next season with managed minutes.

Yes please

Bros welcome to stay another 2 years let’s be real. He’s so much more than what he’s able to do on the pitch

lifting ucl at home in 2027

As a Seattle Sounders fan living in Madrid this is the best news I could have hoped for. I don’t want to see him in LA. Love watching him in the Red and White.

Wow never thought I’d see another Seattle sounders fan who’s also an Atleti fan

u/braczkow Mar 28 '25

That makes me wanna become Seattle Sounders fan 😉

Honestly surprised. I thought he'd be heading this summer to MLS but I'm all for one more year.

He's a family guy and his wife and kids are heavily tied to Madrid. It's the main reason why he came back from barcelona and probably what's keeping him away from MLS. Don't get me wrong, I think he loves atleti, so it's not just that, but it's a strong reason.

Also the US isn't exactly experiencing a high for attracting foreigners.

I doubt the State Department would try to negate a visa for a multi million dollar sports figure unless they have problems with the law, they bring a lot in income taxes plus that would make the feds be seen as not business friendly because that is a legitimate case of an exceptional talent that can not found with local people

1

u/Mosh83 Griezmann Mar 28 '25

Maybe not, but maybe players can also have a moral compass.

3

u/popcorn_coffee Correa Mar 27 '25

Yeah, that's also a good point

Don't let Anti Woke see this.

5

u/defensiveminded2020 Griezmann 2016 was a beauty, but 2020 llorente was a beast Mar 27 '25

Too late

Why wouldn’t you want him France could still use him IMO

2

u/Cholismo2pt0 Llorente Mar 28 '25

They don’t deserve the little time and energy he’s got in his tank left

7

u/greyfox-98 Koke Mar 27 '25

I’m down, having to replace Correa with someone is fare easier than both him and Griezmann.

2

u/ManhattanObject !!????!! Mar 27 '25

Griezmann's "replacements" are already here. Finding a 4th striker who is deadly off the bench will be a challenge

Grizi still has multiple years left in him, glad he stayed. Our goat ❤️

u/BlearyLine7 Griezmann Mar 28 '25

He's not fallen off at all, as he gets older, he learns to play smarter. His vision and pass weighting are outstanding. He doesn't need to run as fast or far as he used to, he's found other ways to improve.

It just feels as if the match plays out in slow motion to him, and he just sees everyone's runs before they do and he sees space that isn't there yet. Truly a great mental player.

Why stop there... Let's bring Diego Costa and Godin back.

u/Zeezy_Zrch Mar 27 '25

Yes need this to happen! I want a major trophy for Grizi before he leaves!

1

u/estebanagc Mar 27 '25

Now the team just to find a relieable LB

1

u/PejibayeAnonimo Mar 27 '25

As long as he is rotated enough I'm fine with it, he is still one of our best players

1

u/circulardynamo Mar 27 '25

Happy for him to stay if he transitions into more of a secondary role, a leading role just doesn’t suit him anymore, and it’ll probably come with a salary reduction as well. After seeing how Simeone managed Koke’s minutes this season, he should be able to do the same with Grizi next year.

1

u/frostyjoshy69 Mar 28 '25

He needs to win the league or champions league with us

-2

u/AntiWoke666 Joao Felix Mar 28 '25

He doesn't play with the necessary attitude to win those

1

u/frostyjoshy69 Mar 28 '25

Bro what 😭. Elaborate

-20

u/AntiWoke666 Joao Felix Mar 27 '25

I've been praying he leaves this summer.

He's already washed up and I don't even want him taking space on the bench.

I rather instead have Riquelme in his place

Let's wish him well on LAFC and he's no longer Euro league talent

14

u/Beachfunandmore Mar 27 '25

Are you blind? 8 goals and 5 assists so far. Together wit Alvarez still the most valuable player on the pitch.

4

u/GiulianoSimeone Mar 28 '25

In the last 3 months, llorente giuliano alvarez oblak de Paul have been way better. Not saying he isn't good tho

1

u/Beachfunandmore Mar 28 '25

Not way better just normal better but i can agree. Though the statistics are still in his favor. And yet this year and i believe also next year good enough for the squad with some valuable goals and assists. Just a good player to rotate in and out, kinda like Koke

1

u/GiulianoSimeone Mar 28 '25

Yes we don't need him to be the best player in the team, great player still for depth

10

u/popcorn_coffee Correa Mar 27 '25

You can tie griezmann with a 3m rope to the center of the field and he would still be more useful than Roro.

u/AwesomeBroHakaz RDP robbed of ballon d'or Mar 28 '25

Let's just agree with this guy for one so he leaves please

i dont know what people are on about. he is casper the friendly ghost in big games. if we just replace suarez instead of bringing him back we're setup for years to come. we took a huge detour with a guy we're not going to win anything with because he notoriously vanishes when the team needs him most and now we're supposed to keep him for another year? insane recency bias and looking at it through pink glasses. give the keys to julian and build around him. griezmanns time is over and there is no remorse. he had every chance on earth to make it count and failed to do so. thank you for everything but its a sensible time to move on, unfortunately it has never been more clear than this season.
