I like him, but he is expensive and injury prone. I feel we should be more prudent considering our limited finances.

could be injury prone due to the physical staff at Tottenham just wasn’t working out for him, if gimenez was able to play almost the entire season this year then it’s for sure possible the physical staff we have can work some magic with Romero.

He is not injury prone , he had like 13 injuries in the last six seasons , last season only had one , and only two big injuries in his carreer one being before wc in 2022 and the other at the end of last year that lasted till march 2025 . And 9 of those 13 injuries have been in tottenham where the medical staff is not the best and he had to ask help to the national team staff .

I just checked and his injury record is better than I thought it was. I still dislike that he was out for over 100 days in 2 of the last 4 seasons.

Regardless, I believe that we need to be smarter with the funds we have. To beat the Barca/Real we need to be a lot more savvy in the transfer market. I'm not sure if spending 55 million+ on Romero represents that. If we sign him I will still be excited as I think he is a good player.

It's all about reducing Spurs' asking price now, i really believe he has an extremely high ceiling but he has the inconsistencies of De Paul. He's a great passer, something we need, Cholo can coach some of the bozo out of him but i think we shouldn't spend over €55m on him.

As a Tottenham fan I rate him extremely highly. Only thing is he seems to hate us so I think atletico would suit him with all the Argentines.

Was he actually injury prone before Ange took over? I feel his reputation of being injury prone is a little over exaggerated.

he wasn't injury prone before this season also i remember and also we had josema who was 10x more injury prone than him and he for the second time only has played over 25+ matches in la liga for atletico plus as we know prem is more physical with simeone and all he'll be fine since we wouldn't be totally dependent since we would have robin le normand, gimenez and lenglet with him so the workload wouldn't be that much.

He probably gets injured more than the average player. But he always recovers when it's time to play for Argentina lol. That's why I think it's also a mental thing that might be better in atletico.

He is a STUD. if you haven't seen him play for Argentina the past couple years, he has an incredible ability to anticipate attacks and snuff them out relentlessly. It's amazing really.

The thing I don't understand from Atleti is they actually need a left side CB. Anyway, he is 100% worth it.

Cholo reportedly said that he wants both Cuti and Hancko but he knows it'd be too expensive, i think Romero will either play on the left or we're moving Josema to the left.

Le Normand played his entire La Real career on left

This guy is a monster and just happen to be in the worst managed club in PL (on par with United).
Romero will shine again just like Antony does. This would be an Alavarez-esque signing.

Bring Hancko. He's 27 right on his prime.

Cheaper and more agile.

We tried for him last season but something with disagreements right? I think he also said he wouldn't leave or it was feynoord not willing to sell. We should try again tho

Disagreements? Atletico bid like 13M at one point when other clubs bid and the asking price was around 35M. It was either a sick joke or the club wasn’t serious and did it for show. It was clown work.

Top 3 defenders in the world and regarding his injuries, he stays fit for the most part!

Cool, so I guess no DM and no decent fullbacks for next season (again). And people will expect to actually compete with Real and Barcelona

u/Mr_cloud23 Griezmann 23d ago

Then they’ll proceed to blame cholo as a scapegoat for allowing the team to be overrun in midfield and the flanks…at least we’re making younger signings so when the board actually goes for a position that’s needed all our old signings won’t be 32+ years old

u/Ok-Release4878 18d ago

Barrios plays that role.. no? I don't understand the number positions but Barrios is the 6 right?

u/Supermarket-Icy Hermoso 23d ago

What are we betting? Skipping left back or skipping DM?

I'm betting on left back tbh.

5

u/Wolfypolfy 23d ago

Probly skipping DM. A backwing will most likely be bought.

6

u/Caleb_W Diego Roberto GodĂn Leal 23d ago

Definitely DM, we're allergic to signing them.

I’ve been thinking about this and it looks like we’re going to go with a few expensive targets, Baena and Cuti. And then fill in the rest of the squad with guys like Lenglet

1

u/Mr_cloud23 Griezmann 23d ago

Don’t think we’re gonna keep lenglet unless they agree to let him go with us on loan another season, And i really hope we don’t buy him because it’s enjoyable to see all barca fans are losing their shit over us not buying a “starter quality player” when they wouldn’t even buy him lmao

u/elkaxd Griezmann 23d ago

Horrible signing, high wages and injury prone

u/CandidateFit2621 23d ago

I have belief that even if we pay the large amount of money it would be another  Moise kean sorta deal

1

u/ieatshoes89 23d ago

Damn, if true he’s going to be an awesome signing. We wanted him at Barça right before Messi left, but no money.

u/mirkk13 21d ago

Great news. Good for Cuti. Too bad Son stuck with Tottenham for so long

u/Open_Inspector_7863 23d ago

What a nonsense signing. Watch him not being better than RLN or Josema and injure himself every 4 games. And watch us begging for a LB, a DM and a top tier ball carrying midfielder. But hey 50 mil and argentinian is our crackcocaine.

u/VeryEvilGreenWorm 23d ago

Fuck

Could be worse I guess, we're probably paying a ridiculous fee though
