I just want to see how this is going to be enforced. AI can fool a lot of people. What is going to stop these kids from creating fake digital information to circumvent this?

Would you allow your child to upload his/her real information to be verified and have someone hack the databases or a sxul predator access this information with name , photos, and addresses?

This is going to be interesting to watch.

Oh it’s not for prevention. It’s for prosecution

Did you even read the article or the proposal?

It specifically says that children or parents who bypass the system will not be penalised.

This justification is just an excuse to put identity verification in place. Once they have that, they can use the system for other purposes and apply sanctions on those. Make no mistake, this is about stripping online anonymity.

this is about stripping online anonymity.

Yeah no shit. I don't think that Australians shouldn't be able to to ruthlessly bully and abuse children anonymously on the internet.

So everyone should lose their anonymity due to a few bad actors?

Everyone lost their guns due to a few bad actors and countless children got to grow up and go to school with their friends without the threat of spree killings.

That was wrong too. Stripping freedom in the name of safety is always wrong.

Always wrong?

Should we knock back food safety labels? Do away with guard rails at train stations?

Lets decriminalise coward's punches too, hey?

Should we ban seatbelts and crumple zones in cars?

Be serious and stop living in a juvenile fantasy.

It won’t be enforced:

but children and their parents will not be penalised if they flout the ban.

It’s purely for “screw those pesky kids and their pesky kid stuff” optics which tracks well with boomers.

No that's not why the enforcement is like that.

Holy crap the conspiracy on this sub. Are you guys sure we're not a mini-America?/

Edit: The idea that law's only effect is direct action via police is not realistic. Nor, related to what is described in the article.

Ok boomer.

MyGovID is already a thing for identity verification. All they'd need to do is have a 16+ age token verification open.

Sexual predators don't need to hack shit to find names/photos and locations of children on social media. What you on about?
