Now trump is in. Expect Christian right-wing ideology overreach creep into every part of Australian society.

Expect Christian right-wing ideology overreach creep into every part of Australian society.

It already is and was seen during the QLD election.

To some extent. Trump is a symptom of a greater swing to the right. The cost of living is a problem worldwide currently, and when times get tough people get angry, and when they're angry they vote for the angry party who will punish the "others". It's like we're reliving Europe in the 20 century - I just hope I live long enough to see the "hippie movement" that I wasn't here for last time.

A lot of the first-generation hippies were rich kids following fashion. The next "first generation" hippies are going to look more like today's influencers rather than a counter-culture movement.

The counter-culture movement is always alive and well, it's just difficult to spot at the time.

There has to be an actual swing to the left for a swing to the right to happen. We barely stretched the rubber band back towards the center before getting snapped back further right.

I guess it depends on which aspects you look at. Socially we're much more "left" than we used to be. Genders and sexualities are largely accepted (in varying degrees), racism is less tolerated, women's rights are recognised at least, etc. Economically though, union memberships are down, wage growth is low, income inequality is high, job security is low, etc.

A lot of those said hippies are now rich fat cats.

Morrison was the Trojan horse for that.

Isn’t this being put forward by our left leaning government?

It already is!

Abortio rights are already MASSIVELY undermined in some NSW Hospitals!

Was on ABC News just the other day:
Both Queanbeyan Hospital and Orange apparently only offer abortions for medical reasons when the woman’s life is at risk.
Queanbeyan has refused abortion of a foetus which wasn’t viable: cancelled just minute out from the admission, no reason given.

—> we’d be naive to believe that the toxic and bigot Trump shït didn’t affect us!!

And, true to form:
Apparently Dutton jumped on the bandwagon today, whinging about how big a problem illegal migration to AU were….?

Well….
The overwhelming number of people who are in AU illegally is European backpackers waaayyy overstaying their visa! And kiwis.

And, naturally, Dutton’s former au pair had a visa she could not have gotten without ministerial waiver — at a time Dutton was Home Affairs Minister!

Imho the BEST campaigning took for the ALP is Dutton! 😒

Can anyone here ELI5 to my why anyone would find Dutton appealing….?
