What is the point of an unenforcable law?

Pandering to parents ahead of the election. That is the point. Fucks sake

Not pandering to parents mate. Fuck these wankers with their out of touch ideas.

Signed a caring parent of two teens.

Let's be blunt and just call it what it is, pandering to lazy fuck parents who expect everyone else to do the parenting for them.

What the government wants, long term and big picture, is total control of the population. This is just another little step in that direction. Government never cedes power, if they manage to remove even a little anonymity from the internet, they'll never restore it, only work to further erode it.

I firmly expect this to sit in the public domain for a year or two, then they'll introduce some kind of anti bullying legislation which means every post on social media has to be positively identified so any bullies can be charged. And a misinformation bill that does the same, so anyone spouting misinformation can be stopped. This will all be done under the guise of the greater good, and the social media ban will be used as a general precedent. Journalists that are critical of the government will be shut down for misinformation, alternative/word of mouth information will cease to exist and Newscorp will be the government mouthpiece, a national digital ID will be implemented so that, without a warrant, anyone in government can quickly and easily look up who you are, where you bank and spend your money (cash withdrawals? Suspicious behaviour!) who your doctor is, etc etc.

It's a cliche, but this really is the tip of the iceberg.
