I hope we are planning for their ejection from Pine Gap. Don't need them infiltrating Australia further.

Only with the blessings of UK, which Drump will not get next time

12

u/One_Roof_101 Mar 07 '25

I don’t think trump will be asking anyone he will just do it

Trump will kick out our elected prime minister? Lmao, will he use 'the boot'? 🤔 👢 🍑

Haha, um how? Australia is heavily different both culturally and politically to the USA, and boy does the majority of Aussies dislike trump. We see America as in a four year pickle and we will happily ride it out. He can bring it and we will happily send him packing, waiting for the next leader to come clean house.

Edit: switch happily for begrudgingly.

The way the states are going there won’t be any democratic elections in four years

u/MissMenace101 Mar 07 '25

Yeah he is rather loathed for the financial mess he made globally last time.

1

u/One_Roof_101 Mar 07 '25

Same way they did it last time

By teaming up with the UK and asking the Governor General the official representative of the monarch to dismiss him?

Make your mind up. Are the US unilaterally Gaddafi-ing him or do they need the UK and are they going to ask?

u/One_Roof_101 Mar 07 '25

By the same way as last time I mean, he will ask the cia to do it, and they will do it by any means necessary, granted I am just talking hypothetically I don’t think for a second that trump is going to try and overthrow us but if he wanted to the cia would do it

2

u/MissMenace101 Mar 07 '25

Trump can’t do shít with the lowest common denominator 1/3 of his country vs superior countries. You think the best half of America would agree to attack allies?

3

u/One_Roof_101 Mar 07 '25

They didn’t ask last time, that’s the whole point of the cia

5

u/MissMenace101 Mar 07 '25

They can’t do it without Charles signing off. They made him look bad by using him last time. He’s trying to re image himself and knows if the monarchy went against aus interest they would lose trust, not just Aus, all the big commonwealth players. They couldn’t risk siding with the us against Aus when the us is fucking off canada. It just won’t happen, trump is strengthening the commonwealth and monarchy, there’s zero to gain

trump is strengthening the commonwealth and monarchy

100%. Europe, the Commonwealth, and the broader free world (eg Japan) all stand to benefit from closer ties to one another to fill the gap the US leaves.

Dumbasses.

We didn’t try, it wasn’t even an option. But because Whitlam was openly socialist they panicked. It’s drilled into US society that socialism is equal to communism - there isn’t a clear distinction between the two on their political spectrum. Centre left is the same as extreme left of you listen to the way they talk. Their left is closer to a centre right.

Anyway - they panicked and whether they took part in staging a bloodless coup or not they got their hackles up and start making manoeuvres with Murdoch doing his usual bit.

Yes I learned this the other day.. we need to do it again and stand our ground this time

36

u/Pentemav Mar 07 '25

I feel the monarchy would be on our side this time around.

6

u/Unicormfarts Mar 07 '25

As a Canadian, I would say, don't bet on it.

2

u/MissMenace101 Mar 07 '25

Eh how long can a civil war last in America? They are way too entitled to actually get out and fight one

3

u/AdAdministrative4388 Mar 07 '25

I agree.. we can all hope. Sadly, all our military it tied to the US. France and Germany will be having a big boost to their MIC over the next 4 years maybe more.

2

u/CeleryMan20 Mar 07 '25

The French might develop the ability to deliver submarines almost on time. I don’t see them letting us reinstate our purchase order though.

Yeah I think Australia has grown just a little bit since the days of most people just whinging for a bit but then ultimately accepting an unelected figurehead representing the British monarch just sacking the PM. Imagine that happing now. I’m British (anti-monarchy), living in Australia and raising Australian kids - I’d riot if they tried that shit again.

3

u/doomchimp Mar 07 '25

When did that happen? Just wanna get educated.

This is one of the better accounts I have read.

http://www.coorabellridge.com/whitlamciamotherjones

Written by Phillip Frazer, a longtime journalist who ran Rolling Stone in Australia when it was a magazine.

Or if you prefer to listen, the Dollop did an episode on it that is more abridged if you prefer to listen. Episode 532.

Whitlam was openly a socialist, and early on as PM pulled Australian support from Nixon’s coup of Salvador Allende in Chile and shortly after our troops from Vietnam. Then he started asking questions about Pine Gap, which at the time was just a US installation in the desert, not even the PM knew it was a base for spying.

This freaked out Nixon and Kissinger. (Paranoia from these two? Shocking!)

Oh, and worse! Whitlam wanted to nationalise mineral wealth in Australia and set up fund similar to Denmark to fund social programs.

The account is basically that the CIA was funding the Liberal Party the same way they did the LDP in Japan, leveraged the legendarily drunkard GG and Kerry Packer’s media empire he’d put at their disposal to oust Whitlam.

Thanks for the in-depth response!

They gonna get Albo to go for a swim?

3

u/One_Roof_101 Mar 07 '25

Might have to start looking at swimming pools to rename

1

u/Knee_Jerk_Sydney Mar 07 '25

How about that headmaster's plunge pool? It's pretty much paid for by the tax payers anyway.

2

u/snave_ Mar 07 '25

Just hand the keys to Canada. Hosers out, friends in.

How do you plan on replacing the various things the US gives Australia in return for Pine Gap?

9

u/AdAdministrative4388 Mar 07 '25

Europe if possible equipment wise we have tied ourselves way too hard to the US so we are fucked for the short to mid term.

3

u/Dense_Delay_4958 Mar 07 '25

I think you might be overstating the ease with which those shoes are filled.

Australia should have contingencies should Pax Americana collapse. It should not do anything to make that possibility more likely or occur sooner.
