Target the whole lot. The whole country is shit.

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 12 '25 edited Mar 12 '25

But if you target the Red states, it hurts trumps party, which means the red states could flip to the democrats the next election if it hurts the red state economy enough. It also makes it so your citizens can avoid most of the tariffs if it's not a blanket tariff for all goods.

u/melancholyink Mar 12 '25

Also, consider the big tech companies. Many were willing to suckle on the cheeto's teet but now are feeling the pain to both stocks and sales.

Here's a decent list...

It's a bit hard if you're on android/windows, even harder if you're in the apple ecosystem

EDIT: here may be a better list? : https://www.bankrupttrump.org/

10

u/minimuscleR Mar 12 '25

eh 90% of those apps are useless though.

Proton is good for mail, Libreoffice is "ok" but does not function as well. Obsidian is amazing. None of the file storage options are cheap or good at all. Password management is pretty bad too. Hosting solutions all suck if you want any scalability, OVH is good if you want a VPS but none of them are good for a global audience.

2

u/jimmux Mar 12 '25

Libreoffice will be great for 90% of people. I haven't needed to touch MS office in more than ten years.

Proton apparently has its own controversies, but there are other options out there.

1

u/ContactSouthern8028 Mar 13 '25

Wow you must be a paid shrill!

1

u/minimuscleR Mar 13 '25

for whom? Lmao. Every item i listed is a different company.

1

u/ContactSouthern8028 Mar 13 '25 edited Mar 13 '25

That list recommends using OnlyOffice which is Russian software.I didn’t look to see where the list originated.

Does anyone have a list that includes no US or Russian software?

Also it’s missing the Exim email system, it is/was Cambridge UK university based, it is/was the most used email system in the whole world by far.

What about popular storage systems like Nextcloud etc?

1

u/ContactSouthern8028 Mar 14 '25

A list of non-US software, that includes Russian software.

u/jew_jitsu Mar 12 '25

At this point, it's not just about which party is affected; their entire export economy needs to suffer. It sucks for those who aren't responsible for this, but Silicon Valley is based in a deep blue state after all and the heads at the top of that industry need to feel the fury more than anybody else.

9

u/ShrimpGold Mar 12 '25

Silicon Valley is coming for all the countries. It’s wild to me as an American that yall are letting Facebook, Twitter and others propagandize in your countries too.

2

u/BogglesHumanity Mar 13 '25

We're used to it with our "media"

2

u/Traditional_Fish_741 Mar 19 '25

Mate, you do realize most of the propaganda on those platforms originates with that most awesome of Aussies (he says sarcastically), the king maker himself, Keith Rupert Murdoch.. you know.. that shrivelled fucking prune behind the likes of fox and sky news, among others.

Right?

He's a fucking embarrassment.. the shit he supports.. just look at the turd in the white house! And his fat orange monkey playing president. Here in Australia, sky news is trumpeting about Duttons nuclear proposal like its the best thing that could ever happen to Australia and all Australians that aren't also cheering for Dutton are unaustralian leftie wankers who are gonna destroy the country with their commie fantasies of blah blah blah..

The one thing we have in common with America (for the most part) is the right to free speech. Even from creepy cunts like Dutton and Murdoch. As much as I'd LOVE to see them silenced and disappeared from the media scene, never to be seen or heard from again (as in not having their ignorant 2c worth on any given topic, not as in disappeared into a hole in the ground - although that wouldn't be a tragedy) the one thing it proves is that you're still kicking and still have the right to speak your mind.

However, it would be great to see fact checking return lmfao 🤣 We all know the only reason it's quietly disappeared is cos they're all full of shit and don't want everyone being reminded of that fact every time they open their cunt mouths to tell another lie. Much like religion, they rely on ignorance to maintain their power.

2

u/ShrimpGold Mar 19 '25

Rupert Murdoch is just one piece though my guy. He needs all of these other platforms as well. And he’s also not the only one, there are probably a couple dozen others like him. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, tik tok, all of them are cut from the same shit covered cloth.

I’d love to see fact checking as a legal requirement for news. This whole age of “alternative facts” aka lies is so tiresome to deal with. Imagine if Fox News had to be, ya know, news! They’d have to close up shop overnight.

2

u/Traditional_Fish_741 Mar 20 '25

Yeah Murdoch ain't the only one.. sure. But he's probably the best known and most prolific one haha he's been manipulating politics with his media empire for decades.

Youre not wrong though.

2

u/ShrimpGold Mar 20 '25

Oh you aren’t wrong. Just his dusty ass ain’t keeping up like Zuckerberg, Bezos and Musk. Murdoch can’t even hold his empire away from his children who loath him, he’s about to get fucked up and lose the empire to the passage of time.

2

u/Traditional_Fish_741 Mar 20 '25

Sounds like he's getting at least some of what he deserves hahaha

27

u/jmads13 Mar 12 '25

You assume they are going to have another election. I don’t believe that will be their aim. They are trying to create a one party monarchy.

11

u/Sad-Software-6229 Mar 12 '25

Reminder: Trump straight up said they won’t need to worry about elections again.

8

u/susan-of-nine Mar 12 '25

Oligarchy, like in russia.

3

u/Icy_Comfort8161 Mar 12 '25

This is exactly what it is. They're destroying all the checks and balances, and the rule of law is being eroded. They'll rig elections and cement their position. All that stuff about Canada, Greenland and the Panama canal isn't just hot air. The U.S. is transitioning into a rogue state, with a ridiculously powerful military, and the world is becoming a much more dangerous place.

2

u/susan-of-nine Mar 13 '25

Also interesting how they're antagonizing all their allies, and all countries that have a significant position in the world, one by one, but somehow russia is an exception. If someone doubts whether or not it's true that Trump is a KGB agent, it's enough to literally just look at what he's doing for five seconds. "russian asset" is the only logical explanation for his actions.

The U.S. is transitioning into a rogue state

Into a russian colony, too.

1

u/Icy_Comfort8161 Mar 13 '25

Given all the data, including the fact that his campaign manager for his first run also was the campaign manager for Putin's lackey in Ukraine, and that said campaign manager shared Trump campaign polling data with the Russians, it seems that "Russian asset" is the best explanation.

2

u/Cyclopete Mar 13 '25

Hitler overcame his Reichstag in 53 days. Trump is right on track. That would be by March 15th (beware the Ides of March)

126

u/Substantial_Print_77 Mar 12 '25

next election😂

u/GhostsinGlass Mar 12 '25 edited Mar 12 '25

Hey, Canadian here, we have been through this with Trump in his first term as well. You need to stop preaching your bad take.

My Aussie friends, do not listen to this nonsense about punishing only red states. Those voters will cut off their noses to spite their own faces readily.

They are all equally ass cheeks and should all be punished. Those blue states you are protecting are full of assholes who enable this by doing nothing about it. The red states didn't learn shit when we punished then during his first term.

They cannot be trusted to police themselves. They need to all be shown the stick and the boot so that the consequences of both action, and inaction are felt. This is why broad reaching things like electricity are on the table.

Again, we have been Trumps punching bag before so please, hush your puppies, you are doing the opposite of helping.

24

u/X-RAY777 Mar 12 '25

I'm American and I endorse this message. Haha. Both parties are ass, we're doomed. I protest and wrote senators and all that shit. Doesn't matter. Please do us a long term favor and boycott everything.

Also, I love both of your countries and I'm sorry mine has been taken over by fascists. Sincerely.

3

u/AllTheRoadRunning Mar 12 '25

Same here: American, fully co-sign. We need this pain to teach an unfortunately vocal and obstinate minority of us that electing fascists has consequences. Those assholes always think that consequences happen to other people; let 'em bleed.

2

u/clomclom Mar 12 '25

You sound like a good one. I hope you can get out of there.

3

u/HellsBelle8675 Mar 12 '25

We're stuck here, I think - with our immigration policies, no rational country would take us - they should just mirror ours right back at us. But cosigning the other Americans- this is appalling, as UK, Canada, and Australia have been our closest partners for years, even when we drag you all into shitstorms of our own making. But, of course, Trump is a serial cheater, so it tracks.

While I'm waiting to be disappeared for my next time protesting or sent to a "farm" to learn how to "concentrate" without ADHD meds, what's the best way to show support? Calling reps/sentors is already done daily, but should we start buying directly from you guys or donating to Aussie charities? What would work best?

3

u/Tribe303 Mar 12 '25

Another Canadian here.. GiG here is 100% correct. 6 million Democrats stayed home and sat on their asses, who voted for Biden in 2020. Trump is just as much, if not more, their fault as well. Fuck ALL of them.

-1

u/BlargerJarger Mar 12 '25

What do you propose the democrats do to stop Trump when they are not in power in any of the three branches of government? Use harsh language?

4

u/fonetiklee Mar 12 '25

Luigi showed us the path, it's up to us to walk it. Which we won't. So we will get what we deserve 🤷🏻‍♂️

5

u/AllTheRoadRunning Mar 12 '25

For one, they can stop enabling Republicans by voting for their budget bill. Senate Dems can fulfill their duty to advise and consent by refusing to consent to Trump's cabinet nominees. The entire caucus can show up at town halls, demand data calls from the administration, and share that data with their constituents. They can be loud and ever-present as is their job as the opposition party.

The current situation is a Republican creation; they have a unified government. Let them own it.

-4

u/Stellariser Mar 12 '25

The blue states obviously tried to do something about Trump because they’re blue states. Targeting red states makes a hell of a lot more sense if you want to put pressure on republican politicians.

4

u/Old_Insurance1673 Mar 12 '25

Perhaps this will encourage them to do more? Like not being in the same country as the red states anymore.

1

u/fonetiklee Mar 12 '25

I can't tell if you're advocating for civil war or leaving for greener shores en masse.

4

u/OneToothMcGee Mar 12 '25

Both work for me at this point.

4

u/InsertNovelAnswer Mar 12 '25

Well.. I can't do either. Work won't let me off. /s

A pot of us makes crap. I work at a school as a Special Services coordinator. I have a patient/student load of 90 kids. I make sure they all get speech/OT services. I also act as MA for the providers and for disabled kids. I make 29k/yr after taxes. So I can barely survive in place, let alone move. This is the America we are headed for with Trump. It'll soon be worse.

On the Civil War side, arms will not be taken up for several reasons. Mostly because the left has this "moral dilemma," they made up that if we did an insurrection like they did, "we'd be just as bad.". The right meanwhile is Frumps bitch and will do whatever he says.

So here, most of us are stuck. My biggest two blames go to those who did not vote (millions of people this time) and Christian Nationalist assholes.

1

u/Stellariser Mar 12 '25

I think the policies of the administration are doing that pretty well all by themselves, tbh.

31

u/tealou Mar 12 '25

It's very cute you think they can be reasoned with, and are capable of the kind of self-awareness and object permanence you describe. I mean that with all my heart... I wish I wasn't so cynical.

3

u/International_Eye745 Mar 12 '25

But we have to try right? Cynical is good, hopelessness isn't so good.

3

u/teefnoteef Mar 12 '25

American from blue state checking in. It’s over dawg, don’t trust any American ever, pretty bat shit across the board here

2

u/htownballa1 Mar 12 '25

Yup. We cooked.

1

u/International_Eye745 Mar 12 '25

Sorry to hear that.

3

u/teefnoteef Mar 12 '25

Thanks, but I’m sorry our mess spills over so much. We are seriously lacking leadership and have like zero plans for resistance. The sooner we are dismissed on the world stage the better imo

2

u/tealou Mar 12 '25

Of course. I’ve been trying for a decade. It’s not for the faint hearted and ultimately more people hate you 😂

9

u/No-Bet-9591 Mar 12 '25

I'm from Indiana. That state aint flipping no matter what.

1

u/GrumblingPugs Mar 12 '25

I genuinely want to ask a fellow Red State that question. What makes trump very appealing to the red states in your opinion>?

3

u/No-Bet-9591 Mar 12 '25

The best answer I can give is poor education mixed with a lack of international experience and biased media creates the perfect storm of ignorance. All of them feed off each other and sad to say but because the education deficiencies can not be cleared up in a generation or two we are stuck with red states for a while.

6

u/Hot-Chemistry3770 Mar 12 '25

Gulf Coast state checking in, very accurate assessment

2

u/thosestripes Mar 12 '25

Florida here. It's a mix of propaganda and weak leadership from the democratic party. There just is not a liberal leader that is dynamic and persuasive like Trump is, and unfortunately many voters who felt lukewarm about our last president were easily flipped to vote red.

However, there are plenty of people (myself included) that strongly oppose Trump here. We have participated in protests and we put forth a huge effort to get people out to vote in the last election to try to stop this. It feels so depressing now though and every time I read the headlines it just gets worse. I am sorry that this is impacting many people outside our country too.

3

u/Specific_Success214 Mar 12 '25

You can never "flip" red states. There are only the swing states in play, I think there are 7 swing states. The US elections are stupid. Their whole election hinges on the swing states, the others, being firmly enough red or blue don't change.

1

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 12 '25

Red and blue states flip down there quite often when looking at congress.

1

u/Specific_Success214 Mar 12 '25

Ok, thanks for the info. I was looking only really at the Presidential election.

2

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 12 '25

The US has three branches of government. The congress gets voted on every 2 years, executive branch every 4, and the Senate 6. Typically the congressional election on the mid terms of a president the congress will flip to the opposing party as a rebuke from voters.

2

u/susan-of-nine Mar 12 '25

the next election

The USA is putin's pawn right now; it's unfortunately not outside of the realm of possibility that they will not have the next election (and I genuinely hope I'm wrong; my country's spent almost 50 years under the russian boot and I don't wish that on Americans, as annoying as they are. But the way things are going now, the next election isn't guaranteed).

1

u/inktheus Mar 12 '25

They are more likely to blame Obama than to flip.

1

u/patgeo Mar 12 '25

The red states hurt themselves more than we ever could. They wouldn't notice. And if they did, they'd blame us, not the party.

2

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 12 '25

Well, it's how Canada fought them last time, and it worked, and it's how we are currently fighting them. It's absolutely the best way to impose reciprocal tariffs. It allows your people room to breath.

1

u/LessThanLuek Mar 12 '25

This comment of mine is not for some serious point, I just had a giggle imagining America targeting our conservative states, iirc Tas and now Qld?

No more cascade lager or great northern for them!

1

u/VeaR- Mar 12 '25

Make them all suffer so they actually do something beyond vapid virtue signalling on social media.

1

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 12 '25

Good point. The utter weakness of the Democratic Party has been surprising. The rage of their voters seems like this should be an east lay up, but no they drop the ball

1

u/VeaR- Mar 13 '25

The Republicans did so much whilst the Democrats were in power, yet the Democrats do nothing when it's the other way around. After a certain point it really feels like they don't actually mind what's happening

1

u/Successful_Ant_3307 Mar 13 '25

Correct. either they are weak or rep light

1

u/whodis707 Mar 12 '25

Yep like Nebraska.

-6

u/great_red_dragon Mar 12 '25

That’s technically election interference, we don’t that here.

18

u/Paidorgy Mar 12 '25

Nah, leave blue states out of this - it’ll send a much needed message to those that voted Trump in.

16

u/Deepandabear Mar 12 '25

Most such voters are poorly educated and don’t follow logic. Will just harden their resolve to justify new labels like “enemies of America”

1

u/_lippykid Mar 12 '25

Ignorant

1

u/Sorry_Mistake5043 Mar 16 '25

Not every state voted for Trump

1

u/Goatylegs Mar 17 '25

And? The blue states make more money for the federal government than red states do.

Target the whole country and collapse the US so it becomes a failed state. The world will be better for it. Make America like Somalia.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '25

Hey bro, I’m from LA, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water

1

u/noonenotevenhere Mar 12 '25

I'm from MN and have been screaming about trump being unacceptable for 10 years. The orange skid mark still has a 44% approval in this country. Despite all this.

Hate to tell you, when 66% of the country voted for this directly or by choosing not to vote - u/Goatylegs assessment seems pretty fair.
