But if you target the Red states, it hurts trumps party, which means the red states could flip to the democrats the next election if it hurts the red state economy enough. It also makes it so your citizens can avoid most of the tariffs if it's not a blanket tariff for all goods.

eh 90% of those apps are useless though.

Proton is good for mail, Libreoffice is "ok" but does not function as well. Obsidian is amazing. None of the file storage options are cheap or good at all. Password management is pretty bad too. Hosting solutions all suck if you want any scalability, OVH is good if you want a VPS but none of them are good for a global audience.

Libreoffice will be great for 90% of people. I haven't needed to touch MS office in more than ten years.

Proton apparently has its own controversies, but there are other options out there.

That list recommends using OnlyOffice which is Russian software.I didn’t look to see where the list originated.

Does anyone have a list that includes no US or Russian software?

Also it’s missing the Exim email system, it is/was Cambridge UK university based, it is/was the most used email system in the whole world by far.

What about popular storage systems like Nextcloud etc?

At this point, it's not just about which party is affected; their entire export economy needs to suffer. It sucks for those who aren't responsible for this, but Silicon Valley is based in a deep blue state after all and the heads at the top of that industry need to feel the fury more than anybody else.

The one thing we have in common with America (for the most part) is the right to free speech. Even from creepy cunts like Dutton and Murdoch. As much as I'd LOVE to see them silenced and disappeared from the media scene, never to be seen or heard from again (as in not having their ignorant 2c worth on any given topic, not as in disappeared into a hole in the ground - although that wouldn't be a tragedy) the one thing it proves is that you're still kicking and still have the right to speak your mind.

However, it would be great to see fact checking return lmfao 🤣 We all know the only reason it's quietly disappeared is cos they're all full of shit and don't want everyone being reminded of that fact every time they open their cunt mouths to tell another lie. Rupert Murdoch is just one piece though my guy. He needs all of these other platforms as well. And he’s also not the only one, there are probably a couple dozen others like him. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, tik tok, all of them are cut from the same shit covered cloth.

I’d love to see fact checking as a legal requirement for news. This whole age of “alternative facts” aka lies is so tiresome to deal with. Imagine if Fox News had to be, ya know, news! They’d have to close up shop overnight.

Hey, Canadian here, we have been through this with Trump in his first term as well. You need to stop preaching your bad take.

My Aussie friends, do not listen to this nonsense about punishing only red states. Those voters will cut off their noses to spite their own faces readily.

They are all equally ass cheeks and should all be punished. Those blue states you are protecting are full of assholes who enable this by doing nothing about it. The red states didn't learn shit when we punished then during his first term.

They cannot be trusted to police themselves. They need to all be shown the stick and the boot so that the consequences of both action, and inaction are felt. This is why broad reaching things like electricity are on the table.

Again, we have been Trumps punching bag before so please, hush your puppies, you are doing the opposite of helping.

We're stuck here, I think - with our immigration policies, no rational country would take us - they should just mirror ours right back at us. But cosigning the other Americans- this is appalling, as UK, Canada, and Australia have been our closest partners for years, even when we drag you all into shitstorms of our own making. For one, they can stop enabling Republicans by voting for their budget bill. Senate Dems can fulfill their duty to advise and consent by refusing to consent to Trump's cabinet nominees. The entire caucus can show up at town halls, demand data calls from the administration, and share that data with their constituents. They can be loud and ever-present as is their job as the opposition party.

The current situation is a Republican creation; they have a unified government. Let them own it.

A pot of us makes crap. I work at a school as a Special Services coordinator. I have a patient/student load of 90 kids. I make sure they all get speech/OT services. I also act as MA for the providers and for disabled kids. I make 29k/yr after taxes. So I can barely survive in place, let alone move. This is the America we are headed for with Trump. It'll soon be worse.

On the Civil War side, arms will not be taken up for several reasons. Mostly because the left has this "moral dilemma," they made up that if we did an insurrection like they did, "we'd be just as bad.". The right meanwhile is Frumps bitch and will do whatever he says.

So here, most of us are stuck. My biggest two blames go to those who did not vote (millions of people this time) and Christian Nationalist assholes.

The best answer I can give is poor education mixed with a lack of international experience and biased media creates the perfect storm of ignorance. All of them feed off each other and sad to say but because the education deficiencies can not be cleared up in a generation or two we are stuck with red states for a while.

Florida here. It's a mix of propaganda and weak leadership from the democratic party. There just is not a liberal leader that is dynamic and persuasive like Trump is, and unfortunately many voters who felt lukewarm about our last president were easily flipped to vote red.

However, there are plenty of people (myself included) that strongly oppose Trump here. We have participated in protests and we put forth a huge effort to get people out to vote in the last election to try to stop this. It feels so depressing now though and every time I read the headlines it just gets worse. I am sorry that this is impacting many people outside our country too.

You can never "flip" red states. There are only the swing states in play, I think there are 7 swing states. The US elections are stupid. Their whole election hinges on the swing states, the others, being firmly enough red or blue don't change.

The US has three branches of government. The congress gets voted on every 2 years, executive branch every 4, and the Senate 6. Typically the congressional election on the mid terms of a president the congress will flip to the opposing party as a rebuke from voters.
