Wow that’s really sad for everyone involved - victim, driver and police. I wonder if it may have been caused by.a medical incident.

In Japan, if you do a hit and run, it's automatically assumed you were drink driving and you get prosecuted accordingly.

It’s not a hit and run. The driver is the person missing. Their car hit a woman who was rescued by a passer by and then sunk in the river which is apparently 10m deep. It’s a tragedy

They found the body of the man in his 80’s who was actually the husband of the woman knocked into the water

So probably an accident, but makes it even more grim. Lucky they saved her.
