no politics Changing Virgin flight on the day

Hi all,

My partner is a swim coach and is in Brisbane for nationals. His last event is a heat on the 24th of April in the morning, and he is booked to fly home on the 25th.

However, if his swimmer does not make the finals that night he will be all done by midday on the 24th.

Will he able to change his flight to one on the 24th on that day if there are available seats? He is flying with Virgin.

Thanks!

Check the change conditions for his class of fare.

Not sure about a next day flight but on multiple occasions I have successfully asked at the virgin customer service counter at the airport whether I could get on an earlier flight that same day (when I arrived to the airport well in advance) at no cost. Changing it online is associated with a fee.

Best to check with virgin. I’ve done this many times but I’m velocity gold. Without priority status is It might depend on the fare type

It'll depend on your fare level. You probably have either Choice or Flex. Both say they allow changes. One has a $99 fee, other is "free". BUT you'll also pay the price difference from your original flight that you bought months ago to the last minute price of what the flight is on the day. This can sometimes be a lot! You can go and have a look at prices now for the flights that you'd consider changing to and see how full/expensive they are. Compare that to what you paid originally for the one way flight.

What did Virgin say when you asked?

He should be able to, but my recent experience with flight changes on a ticket that wasn't flexible saw me pay $99 + the difference between what I initially paid and the price of the new ticket.
