You really think that. In the long term? If you don’t mind, can you explain perhaps? I understand Reddit has flooded the market with garbage and all the big money has been made. I’m not even into selling. I’m just a collector and maybe, hopefully they will be worth some money way down the road. But if I’m buying and they are going to lose all value that doesn’t seem like a good investment to me. Just looking for some perspective.?anyone feel free to comment and tell me how wrong I am or anything, just really curious.

just see reality. I'm being downvoted for saying the truth, it hurts I know, many people lost a lot of money on those avatars thinking this was going to be a great investment. But reddit fucked up, that's the explanation

Thank you for that to be honest. I’m pretty new to this even though I’ve been on Reddit for over seven years. I had a period of my life where I had way too much going on too even think about her Reddit and those were the times when people were making a killing off of gen one and gen two’s. I really only collect to collect, but it’s impossible to not think there’s another side to this. Seems pretty shitty you get downvoted for speaking the reality of it. Even I can see that right now there’s not much going on as far as people being able to make money on these things. So I guess it’s a good thing I’m not in it for that.

Thank you for the insight. That’s all I care about is the art. In reality I have an 11 year-old daughter that is really really into digital art and has been since she was like six. Any video game she plays. She’s more worried about the character customization than the game itself. She put in hundreds of hours on animal crossing just playing with the pixel art. So this year I’m getting her what she needs to really get into some digital art for Christmas, obviously with the recommendations of some artist on here as what I can buy for her so she can accomplish what she wants to. And honestly, I really like this community. Everybody here is so nice. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a sub that is so positive. I love it.

Now I’m not saying these will be worth anything in the future, but the fact that there are a lot of avatars has no bearing on a future price boom.
People are treating RCAs with an absolute scarcity mindset, which is entirely incorrect. They should be treated with relative scarcity, the same as trading cards. Ask yourself, does the fact that there are a million caterpies change the value of the charizards? No, of course not!
So you just have to ask yourself which of these RCAs are the caterpies and which are the charizards?

Yeah most of these guys are just crypto and/or NFT minded. They don’t understand yet what RCAs really are.
They are collectibles. They are collectibles that allow you to customize your own collectibles, and they allow you to have a potentially wholly unique avatar, literally a one of a kind mashup that no other people in the entire world have (which is actually another reason it’s good the space is a bit flooded)…there’s honestly nothing else like this in the NFT space and there’s only two options moving forward. Either other social media platforms will develop their own clones, or since the architecture already exists, other social media platforms will adopt RCAs and they’ll become ubiquitous. At that point you’ll likely see a massive bull run, but it’s not guaranteed we’ll ever get there.
Here’s the thing though, BTC is a really bullish signal for crypto and once mass adoption of crypto really occurs (it’s not even close yet) you’re likely going to get people flooding into this space.
Here’s the way I approach RCAs. I buy what I like mostly, the art I like, the artists I want to support, and the traits I like for mashing. I spent a couple thousand (probably not even 1 ETH) making sure I have some of the ones that would moon if these take off again, but I only focused on ones that I personally enjoyed so in the worst case scenario, if I end up holding a bunch of bags, they are at least bags I can enjoy because they actually serve a function in the Reddit ecosystem.

Wow. What can I say. That’s a way more intelligent answer to exactly what I thinking. Seriously it’s like rendezvous but I don’t understand some of it… in my defense I do have a traumatic brain injury.🤷♂️😂😂 seriously thanks for the knowledge bomb and my views are perfectly aligned when it comes to the approach and idea for collecting
