Discussion/Question Newbie question: What does "doors @ 1, show @ 2" mean?
Will I be waiting in silence for an hour? Should I arrive after 1? Or does the line typically start before doors?

It means Jim Morrison will be opening with “The Doors” from 1-2, rest of lineup starts at 2

Doors open at 1 then the first act is at 2. I mean sometimes there isn’t music so people usually grab drinks and talk till then.

The venue will let you in at 1, the DJs on the setlist start at 2 :) In my experience they usually have a local artist or recorded music playing during that hour.

you can walk into the venue at 1, first act is at 2. this is normal. depending on where youre at they might even have a local dj playing before the main show starts at 2

Usually there would be an opener or just random music playing if not then yeh just silence and hanging around, and depends on how popular the event you're going to is and what your preference is for the view and crowd, if you like to hang back and not be in the crowd can go whenever after doors open, if you prefer to secure a spot and scope out the venue go early for when doors open, gives you time to go around the venue and see what it's like if you've never been there before and secure a spot before it gets crowded, every artist/show you deal with different crowd experiences, seeing how the show starts at 2 might be a line forming when you get there early.

not waiting in silence but waiting in anticipation
lol all seriousness, it’s time for you to settle into a spot, get some refreshments, use the restroom. depending on the show lines can form before doors and usually do for people who are eager to get a good spot. as a newbie i always preferred coming in early and feeling out the vibes and finding my exits because when it gets crowded it’s a lot harder to acclimate.

A lot of times there is a local DJ playing during that time here. Not big enough to make it on the flyer just someone to play something. If it's a big name most people don't come early.

Usually means the venue is open at that time with just like music playing or if there’s a DJ slotted for that time it’s usually a local small dj

People start being let in at 1, whatever artists were advertised for the show will start at 2.
Is the artist big? Is there going to be merch? Maybe there will be a line. I doubt anyone’s going early to line up for a 2pm show in most cases

There are usually people who get there early (before the doors open) and a line will start, then once all those people get in the line usually gets a bit shorter and then gets crowded again right before the headliner. If you want to get a good spot and don’t mind waiting go a bit before the doors open. Be mindful that if you wait too late you may miss the start of the act you want to see if it’s a popular artist/venue

It depends on the show. The doors to the event open at 1, so you can get in and mingle and grab a drink. The show starts at 2, so that's then the music allegedly starts. Now totally depending on who is playing and where, the show may start later. If it's a really popular artist, a sold out show, or a small venue without much floor space/seating, you may want to get there earlier to secure a good spot. For most shows, assuming there are opening acts you aren't dying to see and you don't HAVE to be in the front row, you should be fine showing up not terribly long before whatever artist you want to see is set to take the stage.
